Sunday {Night}- Monday {Morning}, November 20th-21st, 2011 | The Parker’s Family Estate, Western Australia | Carson Evans {18} and Sienna Parker {16

You lay in your bed, not moving, not sleeping. The chilly winter air {Author’s note: that is right winter air… I live in Australia so deal with the seasons} nipping at you. Your iPhone vibrated and lit up. You rolled over and unlocked the screen.

Sienna: Hey, you still up? Sorta need to talk…

Carson: Sienna, what’s wrong?

Sienna didn’t reply for a while. She left you hanging on her worrying words.

Sienna: It’s nothing…

Carson: Sienna, tell me. I can help.

Sienna: Dad and I had another fight… He just yelled non-stop, he kept saying that I am teenager and that I don’t understand anything. That I am more likely to pregnant than get a scholarship. I know he didn’t mean it…but it still hurts. You know?

Carson: I know. Wanna talk about it.

Sienna: Yeah.

Carson: Okay. So what bought this on?

Sienna: At dinner he was in a bad mood and I kept snapping at him. I know I shouldn’t’ve but I just kept going. He kept telling me that I would be a dentist and study a few hours away at the local uni. And stay here for the rest of my life… and never get out. But I can’t do that. I want out. And he blew up and said that I was just a naïve girl, who can’t handle the big city and men; that I would just fall over at their feet. And be malleable in their hands.

Carson:  Do you want to come over?

Sienna didn’t say anything for a good five minutes, but she finally agreed. You went over to your closet and grabbed a shirt and snuck into the kitchen and grabbed a box of Maltesers and slipped out of the front door. The walk to the Parkers was quick, less than ten minutes. You were their neighbours but you had acres of land separating the homes. Your father and Sienna’s were stock farmers, both cattle and sheep.

You made it to her house after what felt like an eternity. You couldn’t walk through the front door…not because you weren’t invited but because you couldn’t be caught by her dad. Ben was a good man…but he had an anger that terrified even you. He was only like that with Sienna though; she was so much like him. They just clashed.

You made the idiotic choice to climb the rose wall to get to her room.

You knocked quietly on the glass…nothing, no response. But you could hear her sniffles. So you did what any man in love would do, you opened her window and climbed in. “Shit.” You whispered, when you lost your balance and fell in.

Sienna’s body stilled then curled up protecting herself.

“Sienna?” You whispered.

“Carson…” She breathed, relieved.

Her grip loosened on something and it made a soft thud when it hit the ground. “What was that?” You asked.

“My weapon for attack.”

Your eyes focus and readjusted to the dim light in her room. “Was that your phone charger?”

Sienna was silent for a moment. “Yeah.”

You laughed quietly. “Here, I got you something…” You hand Sienna the box of Maltesers and she graciously accepts them. “Are you feeling better now?”

“I think so… I mean I thought I was going get murdered a minute ago because someone snuck in through my window but I am alright now.” She smiled and you turned to leave.

“If you want me just text me. I’ll be up.” You start to climb out the window but Sienna made a quiver and that stopped you in your steps. You climbed back into her room, more graciously this time, and fell into her bed pulling her close to you. Her breaths were shaky and trembling, but you just squeezed her tighter to you and eventually her breath evened out. She was out, and in a few minutes you would be too.

“Ahem.” A voice cleared their throat. “Carson, Sienna.” Sienna stirred in your arms.

“Shit.” You mumbled.

“Mum?” Sienna groaned. “What are you…oh, shit!?” She opened her eyes and realised the scene that was taking place in front of her.

“I knew you two would… ya know… eventually ‘share fluids’! I am so happy about this… but, don’t say anything about your father he would go nuts and so would Alex. So keep it on the down low for a while.” Sienna’s mother, Laura, gushed.

“Mum, me and Carson…”

“Carson and I.” She corrected her daughter.

“Right, Carson and I aren’t ‘sharing fluids’. I was upset and he came over and comforted me.

“Well, whatever you would like to call it… don’t tell your brother or your father. Okay.” Laura walked out of the room and then turned back around. “Just don’t get pregnant… or get a STD.”

“Oh god.” Sienna moaned, still in your arms. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“I was shocked! I mean, how can she believe that we were together so easily?” You asked.

“Well, we are together all the time. And she has witnessed us flirting.”

“Yeah, but, the flirting is harmless.”

“I know. But flirting, for my mother, is still flirting.”

“Anyway, I better get ready for school.” Sienna pulled herself out of your embrace and walked over to her closet.

“Yeah, I will leave you to it.” You go to leave but you stop just before the window. “And, Sienna, next time you might want to find something more painful when thrown at people than a phone charger.” You get down from the window and make it to the grass below and Sienna’s smile fastened itself into your head, and you knew that it would be there for the rest of the day.
