: : Part XXXVI : :
New Year’s Eve 2012 | The Lake House | Sienna 17 and Carson 19 |
The music was deafening. Groups of people danced all through the house and littered around the outside of it. Couples grinded against each other on any surface able to hold their weight.
And you? Well, you stayed upstairs in your room; you didn’t want to be a part of that atmosphere. Even though it was your party you would rather stay in your room in the lake house listing places you would rather be.
There was a gentle knock on the door. You didn’t answer it, you figured it was just a couple who wanted to spread even more STI’s.
The door swung open, and you turned to see the unfortunate couple. But it wasn’t a couple; it wasn’t a STI infected, hormonal, party goer. It was Sienna.
“Hey.” You smiled.
“Hi.” Siena walked in and shut the door behind her, one of her hands clutching the back of her dress and the other draping against her slender body.
“What’s up? Why aren’t you down at the party?”
“I could ask you the same thing.” Sienna replied. You raised your eye brows and she sighed. “I can’t zip this thing up.”
“And you are walking around the party with an unzipped dress?”
“No. I haven’t gone down yet.” Sienna laughed gently. “Could you zip me up?”
“Sure.”
You stand up from your seat by the desk and walk over to her. She turned around with her back facing you. You rest your hand on her exposed shoulder, and gently find the zip. You pull it up slowly enjoying the moment. Enjoying the closeness of her, and enjoying the feeling of her skin on your skin.
“Done,” You tell her.
“Thank you, Carson.”
You smiled.
“Are you coming down to the party?”
“Maybe later.”
“Oh, okay. Well, I am heading down now. So I’ll see you later.”
___________
You wandered around the party for a while. Spoke to a few people, but mainly ignored the people whom you ignored for the past seven years.
You spotted Sienna sitting on the dock by herself. Before you could talk yourself out of it you walked over to her and sat down with her.
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
You pulled off your shoes and placed them on the dock, mimicking Sienna tracing lines on the water’s surface with her toes.
“It’s a beautiful night, isn’t it?” Sienna sighed.
“Yes, yes it is.”
“It makes you wonder about things,” Sienna gestured to the surroundings. The great full moon and the broken dark water with the lines written into it.
“Like what things?”
“Life… What I want for the rest of mine, how I want to spend it and who I want to spend it with.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes, it is so.”
“So, Sienna, what do you want?”
“I don’t know… is that bad?”
“No. That’s fine, you’re only sixteen.”
“I’m seventeen, Carson.”
“I knew that.” You both laugh.
Silence submerged the water along with Sienna and yourself.
“I think I want to live here,” Sienna said, quietly, “at the lake house.”
“I thought you wanted to live in the city?”
“I do. I just think that if we lived here I could still go to work if I really needed to and stayed here. The kids would have somewhere to run around. It’s a good place for kids.”
“It’s perfect.” You told Sienna.
Sienna sighed dreamily and dropped her head onto your shoulder. You unconsciously moved your arm around her pulling her closer to you.
There you both stayed, underneath the carpet of stars, and beneath the complete moon, Sienna in your arms, just where she belongs.
