: : Part XIX : :
The drive to the cemetery was quiet, Benson and Avery stayed back at your parents’ house. They didn’t want to go to the cemetery and you couldn’t blame them. Cemeteries are hard for everyone, not just the ones who lost someone.
“I didn’t bring any flowers,” Sienna whispered. “Oh, God I am an idiot. I can’t do anything right. How can I forget flowers? Carson, how can I forget flowers?”
You park the car and turn to her, repositioning yourself in your seat. “You are bringing yourself… that’s all they would want.”
“But-“
“No buts, Sienna, they love you…”
“Loved,” She corrected you.
“Love, they still love you. And they won’t care if you bring flowers or not… they’d only want you.” You tell her, she nods slowly and you got out of the car going to her door and opened it.
“Thank you.” She muttered.
The Parkers were buried dead in the centre of the Cemetery. The walk wasn’t long, but it was hard. You knew that it was hard for her, so… it was hard for you.
“We should come back later.” She whispered as we neared the plots. “Someone is there.”
“Who?” You questioned.
“I don’t know… we should just come back later.”
“Sienna, they are your parent’s. Go.”
You lock eyes with her… you knew your eyes were pleading and after a moment she nodded softly. She walked over to the crouching figure and knelt next to him. He didn’t notice her presence for a few moments and kept speaking. “She’s at Uni… she got a scholarship… you always said she was smart… She’s with Carson, I trust him… he’ll look after him when I can’t… I am sorry, really. I should have been there I should’ve protected you.” The voice broke off and on; his words were etched into tears. The voice sounded familiar, really familiar. The awareness took hold of you and you stood back from the pair and let them have a moment. You felt out of place, you wanted to leave… to give them space. But at the same time you couldn’t… you needed to be here with your Sienna.
Sienna rested her head on her brother’s shoulder and hugged him from the side. Alex and Sienna stayed like that for what felt like an hour. Sienna whispered into her brother’s ear and they both stood up. Alex’s eyes landed on you and smiled before walking over to you and hugged you.
“Long time no see.” Alex said, pulling away from you.
“Sorry about that.” You mutter.
“It’s all good.”
“We should go, Carson.” Sienna said. “We have to find a hotel…”
“You can stay with me.” Alex offered.
“But, you probably have company. Honestly, it is fine.”
“S… you are staying with me.” Alex told her sternly and looked to you. “So are you mate, we have some catching up to do.”
“We have other people with us, Alex.” Sienna told her brother, you looked at her confused. Why the hell was she fighting this so hard?
“They can stay too, we can all go out for dinner at Sal’s.” Alex fought back.
“Fine, let me call them.” She sighed and walked off.
_______________
Sal’s Diner wasn’t as busy as it normally was. A few people fluttered about but the normal Saturday night rush was non-existent.
