Sunday, September 22nd, 2013 | Evans’ Property | Sienna {18}, Carson and Alex {20}

It was a dumb idea and you knew it. Since you were down for the holidays, you were supposed to be helping Sienna construct and memorise her basic notes for her HSC exams that were coming up in the next few months.

But somehow you managed to be behind your parent’s shed, with Alex and Sienna planning on how to get the old man back.

Three weeks prior to this, your father pranked you and Alex so well that you would rather not talk about it. You will only release a few details about that night to anyone. It was dark, and you may or may not have gotten drenched.

“This is stupid.” Sienna sighed.

“Exactly, the old man wouldn’t expect it this soon.” Alex told her.

“No, the actual plan is stupid.”

“He won’t be expecting an attack so soon, he would think that we would need time to think and construct the best plan ever.”

Sienna huffed and turned towards you. “You know this is stupid, right?”

“Completely.” You nod.

“Then why are we doing this?” She whispered.

“Enough negativity!” Alex cried. “We are going to pull this off, and it will be amazing.”

“Whatever you say, Sir.” You mocked.

“Okay, you two stay here on look out and I will go inside and grab all the things that we need.” Alex ordered.

“Whatever you say, Sir.” Sienna repeated.

Within the next hour, everything was set up. All three stages were in place and every one was in position.

You look over to Sienna and she gives you the signal. “Psst…” Alex whispers to you from behind a bush. “Is the eagle landing?”

“What?” You whisper yell back.

“Is… the… eagle… landing?” He replied, pronouncing each word.

“What?”

“Fuck! Carson, can you see your dad?”

“No!”

“Well tell me when he is coming.”

“Then he will hear us.”

“Not if you whisper and use the code words.”

“What code words?” You ask him.

Sienna cleared her throat loudly. “Mr Evans…”

“Sienna, it is lovely to see you, but I really have to see Ella.” Your dad tries to ward her off.

“Could I talk to you, only for a second?” You could tell that she was swaying her leg and playing with her fingers.

“Okay.”

“Well, I was wondering if you could come with me to meet this guy. He is trying to sell me his car and I don’t know much about cars and… Dad always wanted to come and check my car before I bought it, and now I…” Sienna stumbled off.

“What about Alex, he is a mechanic?”

“I thought about that, but you see Alex loves car’s to the point that he would probably tell the guy that any price would do. And he wouldn’t let me try and get a better deal.”

“I understand.” You father and Sienna were close, walking closer to you in every passing second.

“Now!” You whispered to Alex and he jumped up, sending your father a few steps back.

“Alex,” your father panted, “you scared me.”

You took the opportunity and threw the exercise ball at your father. Sienna ducked just in time, and the ball flew past her and rebounded against your father’s figure. He lost his footing and fell over.

Sienna and Alex began to laugh, so did you. Your sides began to hurt and your father looked at the group. “Is that all you got. That was weak.”

“But you still fell on your ass.” Alex exclaimed still laughing.

“Oh it’s on.”

Dinner that night was quiet, Sienna and Alex stayed over. “The food is lovely, Ella.” Sienna smiled at your mother.

“Thank you, Sienna.”

Alex took the moment and whispered to you. “It has only been two.”

“What?” You whispered.

“First the ball, then the wax and him falling over… again. But not the third one.”

“Shit.” You say, dropping your head into your hands.

“Carson, what’s wrong?” Your mother voiced.

“Oh, nothing.” You tried to shrug her off.

Your father eyes you off and then turns back to his dinner. That was the moment that your cat {Mr Whiskers} walked through the last prank. A loud bang sounded from the back yard and a loud meow killed your mothers chatty conversation.

“What was that?” She asked you sternly.

You look over to a chuckling Alex. “Nothing.”

“Then why is Mr Whiskers covered in flour?” She asked you.

“And honey.” Alex added, you shot him a look and that made him laugh even harder.

“Carson and Alex what the hell did you do?” Your mother nearly shouted.

“It was her!” Alex told you mother, and pointed towards Sienna.

“It was not, Alex. You and Carson will not start this again.”

The memory sparked itself in your head. All the pranks that went down… all the side-holding-gut-aching-head-hurting-smile-driven laughter that resulted. It had begun.
