You and Alex had spent the past hour fixing your stupid car. It broke down yet again, and Alex had offered to fix it up for you.
“You really fucked it good this time, Cars.” Alex commented dryly.
You nod.
“Basically you… I am not going to explain the concept of a car with you Carson, because it literally goes over the top of your head.” Pause. “Have you ever done anything manly? Like this… fixing cars… that is a manly thing to do.”
“Why would I want to fix my car when I can just bother you with fixing my car?”
“I am not going to be around forever Carson.”
“Oh God, now you sound like my father.”
“No, Carson, be serious. I am not going to be around forever especially in the next few years…”
“What is happening in the next few years?” You asked.
“What do you think will happen in the next few years Carson?”
You shake your head.
“You are going to University and Sienna will follow you.”
“Why would she follow me?”
“For university… she is applying for a scholarship there…” Alex told you like you should already know the answer.
You nod.
“Sienna is going to be states away from me and I can’t protect her.”
“Maybe she doesn’t need protecting.” You offered hesitantly.
“Carson, you know her, she wears her heart on her sleeve and she gives it away too quickly. She tries to find the best in everyone, even if there isn’t anything good to find she still tries and sometimes she even makes it up. She needs protecting from those types of people. They will try to hurt her, cut her down… I need you to promise me that you will protect her and make sure she isn’t hurt.”
“Of course I will look after her. I always have.”
