Chapter - 12 The beginning of something beautiful

Daksh stood still in his position, perplexed about what he would do next. He was looking at Ananya, whose eyes were now red due to weeping. He offered her his handkercheif . She took it and wiped her face. He somehow managed to speak,

Daksh: I'm really sorry. Maybe I shouldn't have talked about....

Anu: No.....it's fine. I would have had to talk about it at sometime.

Daksh: How long has it been?

Anu: 3 years.

Daksh: Wow.........

Anu: Yeah.

Daksh: Listen.......if you ever need someone to talk to, just know that I'm there. I'm always there.

Anu:(glancing at Daksh) Thank you. 

Daksh returned a small smile and got up to leave. Ananya got up. The bell rung.

Anu: See you again, Daksh.

Daksh: Yeah. See you again.

Ananya nodded.

Saying that, they both turned to leave. They started taking slow steps away from each other. Daksh turned his head to look at Ananya one last time. Ananya didn't turn though. She kept walking on and on. It was a while after when she realized that she still had Daksh's handkercheif in her hand.......

Another excuse to meet again, I guess!

Sahil felt restless in his dorm room. He knew that he shouldn't have behaved badly with Shayantani. With every growing minute, he felt more and more guilty of his mistake.She was just trying to help him. She wasn't wrong. If he didn't want anyone to call him a loser, then he had to do something about it. Sitting and throwing tantrums at people won't help. He took a deep breath and called Shayantani. She picked after three rings.

Shanu: Sahil...

Sahil: Shayantani....... I called you to say sorry. I know.....I shouldn't have behaved that way.......it's just that....

Shanu: I understand.

Sahil: Really?

Shanu:  Yeah,....I know.....you must have been overwhelmed by everything there......it must have brought back memories  from the past.

Sahil: You know?

Shanu: Everyone does, Sahil. We know....whatever you wanted us to know.

Sahil kept quiet.

Shanu: From what happened today, one thing became clear to me. If we're gonna be friends, then we need to know each other. I know nothing about you other then the rumors about you, which I never believed. You know nothing about me either. So...........

Sahil didn't know what to say,overwhelmed by her and his emotions.

Shanu: Sahil, you there?

Sahil:(absentmindedly) Huh.......yeah...I'm here.

Shanu: So what do you think?

Sahil: About what?

Shanu: Sahil, we need to talk.

Sahil: Yeah...we do need to.

Shanu: So...when can we go out?

Sahil: Are you free now?

Shanu: Yeah....I am.

Sahil: Then, let's go out now. Meet me at Janet's in an hour.

Shanu: Alright, then.
