Chapter Fifteen ~ The Preliminaries part 2

~Umiko~

The next match was Tenten vs Temari the girl from the sand village, Temari had the advantage using wind style to blow away whatever Tenten threw at her and Temari won, the next match was Shikamaru vs the girl from the sound team, Shikamaru out witted her and won, the next match was Naruto Uzumaki vs Kiba Inuzuka.

"Alright! It's finally my turn! Believe it!"Naruto cheered "Yeah! Show him what's for Naruto!"i grinned and we high fived grinning to high heaven as Naruto then jumped down "Good luck!!!"I called and Naruto gave me a thumbs up while grinning "BELIEVE IT!!!"he yelled.

~Third~

"I've been waiting forever for this, sorry Kiba don't take it personally if i blow you away"Naruto said turning to Kiba "That's just what i was gonna say only not so bluntly"Kiba said, Umiko giggled a bit watching from the balcony 'Those two are more alike then they even realize'she thought "Oh yeah talking's easy let's see what you've got at the end of the match!"Naruto yelled then went on to protest Akamaru being there but it was totally fine.

"Well fine whatever i do my best work with a handy cap"Naruto said "We'll just see about that, Akamaru you just stay right here and leave all this to me, i've got it"Kiba said "Alright then if you two are ready, begin"Hayate called and jumped back, Kiba did a jutsu and attacked blowing Naruto back, Kiba smirked "He's gonna be out for a while you can call the match"he said, everyone seemed to agree too.

Then a sharp laugh stopped their muttering and everyone looked at Umiko as she smirked "Naruto's not done yet, don't count him out so quickly"she said then called below to Kiba "I'd watch out dog breath, Naruto's nothing like he was in the academy!" as if on cue Naruto got up grinning "That's right i'm gonna be hokage so you better give me some credit"he said.

"Ha, tough talk but look at you, you're a mess"Kiba said "I just wanted to see what you got, frankly you hit like an old lady, you'd have a better chance of winning if you let that puppy fight for you"Naruto said 'ooh not a good call Naruto' Umiko thought but smiled believing in her friend.

"Come on Akamaru!"Kiba said and ran over to Naruto throwing smoke bombs at him blocking the view but Kiba could smell where Naruto was and attacked him, Naruto ran out of the smoke but Akamaru attacked him pulling him back in, Naruto had an idea and switched places with Akamaru before the smoke fell.

So Naruto now transformed as Akamaru barked and ran over to Kiba before biting him 'Nice one Naruto, the old switcharoo' Umiko though smiling as she watched, Naruto turned back "You used transformation!"Kiba yelled out shocked "Told you he was nothing like he was in the academy!"Umiko called to him, Kiba growled at her "What did you do with Akamaru?"he asked "He's right here"a shadow clone of Naruto said holding up the puppy.

"So you've gotten stronger so what? Still not strong enough cause i'm getting serious now!"Kiba said pointing at Naruto "Oh? well good i was hoping you would cause i want to seriously knock you out!"Naruto grinned, Kiba took a breath calming down and gave a food pill to Akamaru who's fur turned red once he ate it, Akamaru got out of his hold poofing the clone.

Kiba did a jutsu that turned Akamaru into a clone of himself "Now to end this, All fours Jutsu!" Kiba and clone Kiba called attacking but Naruto dodged, Kiba continued to attack but Naruto continued to dodge, again everyone was saying how this would end Naruto, Umiko just rolled her eyes at them, Kiba did a jutsu and hit Naruto sending him flying but Naruto could still fight saying he will be hokage as he got up.

"How are you gonna do that? Laying flat on your face? Well i have news for you, i'm gonna be hokage!"Kiba said and started laughing at him, Umiko glared and gripped the railing easily braking it in half she took a deep breath "Don't listen to any of these losers! I still think you're annoying but i've seen you fight, i know you have potential! Get up and show that you will be hokage!"she yelled.

Naruto grinned getting up "You're right"he said "I never give up and i never go back on my word, that's my ninja way!"he grinned again, using transformation again Naruto tricking Kiba into knocking out Akamaru, then he summoned all his strength to make a jutsu but ended up farting in Kiba's face and knocked him out using his own variant of the dancing leaf shadow knocking out Kiba and winning the match.

"Way to go Naruto!"Umiko called to him grinning, Naruto grinned back and walked up the steps to the second floor, on his way to his teammate though he was stopped by Hinata "Uhm this is for you"she shyly said offering him a can"Thanks but uhm what is it?"Naruto asked Hinata couldn't say though "It's a healing ointment"Kurenai, Hinata's sensei told him, "Thanks again Hinata, that's real nice of you"Naruto said taking the can and walking over to his teammate.

~Umiko~

I grinned high fiveing Naruto once he got close enough, he grinned back "This stuff works fast wanna try some?"he asked offering to share the healing ointment "Dummy, you aren't supposed to share a gift like this with another girl"i said flicking his forehead "Huh? How come? What's so special about this gift?"he asked, i just shook my head "Oh you sweet naive boy, you'll get it one day i'm sure"i muttered "Huh? What are you talking about? Tell me now Umiko"he said.

Ignoring him i watched as names flashed by the screen again, it stopped at Neji Hyuga vs Hinata Hyuga, i frowned a bit, i knew how Neji hated the main branch and he must be boiling by this point since we hadn't had a chance to be alone, i just hope he won't actually kill Hinata.

"Brother!? Those two are brother and sister?"Naruto asked cutting my train of thought "Not quite they're cousins, still i don't think Neji will hold back"i said and watched as the match started, as i had thought Neji wasn't holding back at all but it was pretty hard watching him, i didn't like this side of Neji.

Anyway the match was called before Neji could finish Hinata, Naruto vowed to take revenge and i gave Neji a look that said we needed to talk as he walked past me, anyway the next fight was Gaara vs Rock Lee, at first it seemed to be going in Lee's favor as he was faster then Gaara's sand but it wasn't enough, Gaara crushed Lee's legs with the sand winning the match.

Then it was time for the final match, Choji Akimichi vs Bandages, which didn't take long at all, bandages won, after all that those who won gathered in a line and drew a number determining who we'd fight against in the finals.

The hokage explained that even though it was set up like a tournament, it didn't mean just one would become a chunin, the various lords of the land would determine if you showed enough potential to be a chunin, with that he gave us a month to recover and hone our skills and with that we were allowed to leave.
