THE DAY WAS finally here. the moment of truth, the stepping stone to the real world. this is what the school has been preparing everyone for. after 14 memorable years. through the good, bad, idiotic, heartbreaks, fun and change. the piece of paper that would remind everyone forever that they've accomplished something.
jaemin would've said he was happy to get out of busan and explore the world, although there were definitely some bottled up feelings that he just couldn't get out of his mind. the text seolmin had sent him on the prom night was plastered at the back of his mind.
he had shared too many memories with his friends and family over the years in this small town of busan, especially the last two years when he had been wasted and high as fuck for an entire summer and all the memories shared with seolmin over the last four months. there he was at that very moment, standing on a stage with all of his classmates, waiting to receive the piece of paper he'd worked his ass off for.
the stage was filled to the brim with high schoolers all waiting to have their diplomas handed to them before they were ushered off the stage along with everyone else. jaemin felt a bit stuffy in his graduation gown, and he was a bit upset that he couldn't accessorize it like he used to do with his school uniform. shaking his head, he focused his attention back to the present, breathing in a deep breath to focus himself. his mind was racing with thoughts of the future and how good seolmin looked few feet away from him, even though she was wearing the stuffy black gown along with the stupid cap.
"this shitty gown is going straight into the trash right after i leave this place." donghyuck whispered in a low voice in jaemin's ears. "shh, slowly mr.lee just looked at us!" jaemin whisper-yelled.
"oh look at my girly getting that diploma!" donghyuck cheered slowly resting his chin from the back on jaemin's shoulder while hana received the paper and everyone in the audience cheered for her. "dude you're so weird."
jaemin's quick and nonchalant replies caught donghyuck's attention quickly and he slowly tapped on his shoulders again. "you alright?" donghyuck whispered to him, his eyes straying forward to make sure that the two moved with the line while talking quietly. "yeah? what would happen to me?" jaemin looked away. "no, you're just being weird."
jaemin just couldn't help but think about what it would mean to be without his family, his friends alone in the big city of seoul and the complicated state he had created with seolmin two nights prior to this.
the ceremony ended not too long after that. everyone gave a standing ovation, clapping for the graduates one last time as they all stood there with awkward smiles. jaemin just wanted to run and see his mother, his friends and seolmin, maybe. he couldn't help but smile when his mother briskly walked to his side, wrapping an arm around his neck in endearment.
"i'm so proud of you, my son. i took a few shots of you receiving the diploma! i'll post them on facebook tonight and make sure to tag you." jaemin's mom said excitedly and kissed him on the cheeks. "mom! i'm nineteen!" jaemin screeched. "you're still nine to me."
his eyes travelled through the crowd and landed on seolmin surrounded by her mom, brother and a brunette girl who jaemin remembers as her brother's girlfriend. the memories shared together over the last few months and the incident from two nights ago came flashing right into his mind as he quickly looked away.
"jaemin! come here your friend renjun is looking for you." jaemin's mom yelled while renjun was standing beside her.
"i'm going home then, be there by three." jaemin's mom informed and hugged him again before walking away."yeah why were you looking for me?" jaemin asked renjun and rested his hands on his hips. "no like- i haven't talked to you today, that's it. when are you going to seoul again?" renjun looked at him. "next week, why?" he replied blankly.
"why's seolmin coming this way-i'm sorry but my mom's very dramatic and she's inviting everyone over to my house, you know like a farewell party." seolmin interrupted renjun and looked at both jaemin and renjun. "you guys are i-invited." she stuttered the latter, lowering her voice.
renjun immediately grabbed jaemin's arm before he could say anything as sign for telling him to shut up. "yeah we will be there! don't worry. what's the time again?" renjun asked, pure excitement in his voice. "seven pm, see you guys there then."
jaemin's heart ached at how she didn't even spare a glance at him. how she talked to them both the entire time but only looked at renjun awkwardly. he partially blames himself for making the situation worse, if he could go back in time he wouldn't have blurted out a straightforward confession.
as there's only one chapter
left, i thought about writing
some out of context extra
scenes. you know like, just
fluff or some on crack shit.
idk if anyone would like it
tho
