Chapter 18- So I may have gotten us into a little trouble
“Cleo? Will? What happened?” I asked taking in the scene as Will slumped to the ground, his eyes fluttering shut.
Cleo looked like a wreck. She let out a deep, fear-relieving breath. That was not a good sign. Cleo was never scared. If you see her criminal record, you’ll know why. She doesn’t have one despite all the things she’s done that I’m sure are crimes! Like theft (from bullies and thieves), creating false IDs, hacking the police network to clear her record and the list goes on, trust me.
“We have to get him to a hospital!” I exclaimed rushing to Will’s side and checking for a heartbeat. “What’s the British 911?” I yelled, starting to freak out. He was on the floor and bleeding. I’d never been around this much blood and especially not from a guy who I was beginning to think I loved.
“No!” Cleo yelled, looking and sounding sure of herself for the first time this morning.
“I know you may not like him, but we can’t let him die!” I yelled, tears starting to fall down my cheeks as I ran back to the room to get my phone.
On my way there I bumped into a groggy Cameron.
“What’s all the yelling?” he yawned completely unaware of the life-death situation.
“Give me a phone! I need a phone now! Call 911!” I yelled, waking up Preston in the process.
Cameron put his hands on my shoulder, now more awake. “Calm down. What’s happening?”
Simultaneously Cleo walked in. “No one is calling 911,” she snapped. We’ll drive Will to the hospital. “Cameron, Preston, follow me.”
They did as they were told and I followed closely behind. “Cleo. What’s going on?” I asked being more firm.
She gave me a “I’ll-tell-you-later” look. Cleo only did that when there was absolute serious business. I decided to listen and kept quiet.
I don’t know if Preston and Cameron were too tired to ask questions or realized they weren’t getting answers, but they didn’t ask. I was grateful for the quiet because my heart and mind were working in overdrive. I could hear my heart beating through my thoughts. “Are we there yet?” I asked anxiously.
“No, but we’re almost there,” Cameron calmly replied, keeping his eyes on the road.
I turned away and looked at the paling Will next to me. I was holding the shirt we had put on the wound to stop the blood from pouring.
Will can’t die. Will. I-I need him. He won’t die. It’s just a wound.
But there’s so much blood.
But everyone has blood.
On the inside.
