Chapter 32- No need to waste any time

I boredly looked out the window as the Cameron parked his cherry red Aston Martin. My big black sunglasses hid my eyes from the curious students looking into his slightly tinted windows. "Thanks again for giving me a ride," I said. After some coaxing from Kristen, my Dad decided he was going to confiscate my car for a month. I would wear him down eventually but right now I had to focus on getting out of trouble with Principal Spencer.

"You're welcome," Cameron said as he gently laid his hand on mine. It  was... comfortably warm against my skin. I turned to face him and he just stared back at me with those mesmerizing crystal blue eyes of his, smiling softly, but not saying anything.

"What?" I asked, surprised by his sudden quietness.

"Nothing. You just look... pretty," he said, gently brushing a stray strand of my almost dirty blonde hair behind my ear. I could feel my heart beginning to beat faster and a rush of blood spreading through my body giving me that tingly feeling.

I smiled. "Thanks, you look pretty handsome yourself," I replied, removing my hand from under his and straightening his not-crooked-at-all tie. "Well I've got to go face Principal Spencer," I excused myself before he noticed the slight blush creeping on my cheeks.

I swung my navy blazer over shoulder and sashayed my way into the school building.

I walked past all the curious onlookers with a look that said, 'Yeah I'm bad. So what?'

I only put my sunglasses on my head when I got to the redheaded receptionist. I flipped my hair over my shoulder as I spoke. "You know who I am and why I'm here, so just cut to the chase."

The receptionist gave me the same disapproving look she always did. "Principal Spencer will see you in a few minutes. Take a seat," she replied dismissively.

I rolled my eyes at her and took my seat. I looked at the text Vivian had sent me:

Just follow the plan. It always works. xx

I sighed and crossed my legs.

"Yes, it was wonderful talking to you. Thank you for being so understanding," Alice schmoozed and batted her eyelashes as she walked out of Principal Spencer's office.

Principal Spencer smiled and took Alice's hands in his. "Am I invited?" he graciously asked.

Alice threw her head back in a laugh. She put a manipulative hand on his shoulder. "Of course you are! We wouldn't have it any other way!" She turned her head to face me and gave me a little wink. "Well I must be off. Ta-ta," Alice said, gracefully sauntering off.

Principal Spencer beckoned me into his office and clasped his hands in front of him. His round golden-rimmed glasses framed his sage grey eyes. His hair was a solid powder white, but he barely had any wrinkles. The room radiated the aura that I assumed a typical English headmasters' office would. The walls were made of polished oak wood, but the various large Victorian windows and the teal rug with beige accents brought light and color into the room.

He cleared his throat. "Well there's no need to waste any time. Your sister explained... the situation to me," Principal Spencer informed me in an almost pitiful voice.

"She did?" I asked, suspiciously. Alice never did anything to help me out, unless it would help her out in the long run.

"Yes," he replied as if he understood the situation perfectly.

"I guess... I'll just... go then?" I replied, but sort of asked as I slowly got out of my seat. I scrunched up my face trying to figure out what Alice could possibly have said to get me out of trouble. Well I guess I'll have to grill her after class, I thought to myself as I made my way to math class.

"Jade, Jade, Jade!" Preston yelled, tripping over his feet as he ran to get my attention. He quickly jumped back up. "I'm okay everyone! No need to worry!"

I held back a laugh as he finally caught up to me.

"Jade." He let out a breath. "Finally caught up to you." He leaned against the locker and wiggled his eyebrows at me.

            I laughed. "Preston. You're a mess."

"Which is why I need your help," he exclaimed.

            "With what?"

"Well, Cleo's birthday is coming up in a few days. I need the perfect gift for my girl."

I smiled at his sweetness. "Fine, I'll help you get a gift, but I have to go. I actually have to get to class on time from now on," I smiled as I sauntered off.

"Yeah, you'll have to tell me how you got out of that and I'm throwing Cleo a party," he called after me.

I raised my right hand into a peace sign, signalling that I was not paying attention anymore.

To my surprise, Alice wasn't at my math class and Mr. Lawson kept giving me these weird smiles.  I was starting to get freaked out. First, Alice helps me. Then Mr. Lawson gives me weird smiles. Alice was definitely up to something.

I rushed to the door as soon as the bell rang, but Mr. Lawson called me back.

            "Yes, Mr. Lawson," I answered.

"I just wanted to make sure that's its not awkward between us, you know, now that your sister and I are getting married and all."

Who thinks Preston and Cleo are cute? What's with Cameron being all nice? Alice is getting married? :O to Mr. Lawson?! And what do Jade and the crew have in store for Ashley, Porscha and Madeleine?
