----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chapter 25- You Better Watch Your Back
Vivian stormed over to where we were standing and slammed me against the navy blue lockers. “You lying bitch! I trusted you and now you’re snogging my boyfriend!” she spat, angrily narrowing her sea green eyes at me.
I pushed her back defensively. “I didn’t kiss your boyfriend! He kissed me!”
She folded her arms against her chest. “And why would he do that?” she glared. “Not every boy likes you, you know.”
Porscha smirked and Ashley stood by Vivian’s side. “I tried to warn you, Viv. She’s one of those girls.” She put a comforting hand on Vivian’s shoulder.
Now it was my turn to glare. “Think whatever the hell you want about me, but let’s get one thing straight. I don’t kiss my friends’ boyfriends, OK? I wouldn’t do that!”
Ashley shook her head at me. “Don’t deny it. We all saw you. You’re just making it worse.”
“Was I talking to you?” I shut Ashley down. “Viv, you know I wouldn’t-”I started to say trying to reach out to her, but she pulled away.
She gritted her teeth. “You better watch your back. You just made your worst enemy, bitch,” and with that she grabbed Ashton’s hand and stormed off, with Ashley hurriedly following behind.
“I guess the plan didn’t really backfire, did it?” Porscha smirked, high fiving Madeleine and pushing past me.
I made a face at them and made sure they were gone before I pulled out my phone. I texted Cleo, Ashton and Vivian:
Do u think they bought it?
My heart was literally pounding the entire time. I had thought Porscha, Madeleine or Ashley would catch on to the fact that we were faking it, but I think neither of them did. They tried to blackmail Ashton into helping them, but he has become a double “agent” and so has Vivian. She quickly replied:
Hell yea, they bought it. Bringing the bitches down! xx
I put back my books and got ready for English class. I sat down in my usual seat and looked for Rose, who I hadn’t spoken to in the longest time. I saw her sitting in the back row with Harriet.
I walked over to where they were sitting. They both looked away from me.
“Hey guys,” I smiled, sitting on the table in front of them. “It’s been a while.”
“Yea,” Rose said avoiding my eyes.
I bit my lip. “Is something wrong?”
“No,” Rose hurriedly replied, but still avoided my gaze.
“Tell her!” Harriet hissed, before shooting me a disgusted glare.
“No,” Rose said quietly.
“Fine. Then I will,” Harriet retorted. “You told. Now Rose and Sebastian can’t be together.”
“What?” I asked completely confused.
“You’re the only one who knew besides me and the two of them. I didn’t tell and they obviously didn’t tell, so that leaves you! And you are a backstabber; snogging Ashton and all.”
Was today falsely accuse Jade day? I thought to myself. I scoffed. “Why would I do that? And how do you know about the Ashton thing?”
Harriet huffily shrugged. “News travelled fast… You know it’s one thing to ditch us, but to ruin Rose’s relationship after she was nothing but kind to you, is cruel. You fit in better with Porscha, Ashley and Vivian than I’d ever thought.”
Was I really just like them? I wondered, but quickly shrugged off the thought. “You believe me, don’t you?” I asked Rose, but her silence spoke for her. “Wow. That’s just great.” I shook my head and went back to my seat, much to Harriet’s satisfaction.
Who would have wanted to break Rose and Sebastian apart? I made myself a promise to get to the bottom of that. That and to take down Porscha and her clique. Permanently.
I hoped Sebastian didn’t think it was me too, which was why I made it my mission to talk to him after class. I found him sitting in one of the alcove windows in the hallway.
I sat across from him. “Hey.”
He was sketching in his notepad again and barely looked up. “Hey.”
“What are you sketching? I asked as I tried to see his drawing.
He abruptly shut his sketchbook and met my eyes. “It’s… private…” he explained.
I looked down at my hands. “Look. I didn’t… tell anyone about you and Rose. I know I may seem like the bad guy right now, but I’m not.”
“I know,” he replied calmly.
“I swear I didn’t- wait, you what?” I asked bewildered.
“I said I know,” he repeated.
“But how?”
“I know because I told.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you like it? What have Jade and the gang got up their sleeves for Porscha, Ashley and Madeleine? Why did Sebastian sabotage his own relationship?
