HJ laid in his bed, not wanting to get up. It was too early. Why were classes so early? At Serpent Prep he barely ever showed up to school and he was always promoted to the next grade. Now he actually had to try here and that seemed like too much to be asked.
He tried falling back asleep but the alarm kept going off every five minutes and it was really beginning to irritate him. Why didn't it stop? He stopped hitting the snooze button and suddenly it stopped beeping every few minutes. He was about to fall back into sleep again when the door to his dorm opened, this time with a key.
Sam walked inside, not trying to stay quiet as she walked over to his bed.
"Wakey wakey Hecky Hecky." Sam said, after setting a tray on the table, poking him in the side.
"Five more minutes." HJ mumbled, turning to face the wall.
"It's already seven thirty. Classes start at eight." Sam said. "Get up. I got you breakfast."
"Oh Sam you didn't have to do that." HJ said, sitting up and looking at her.
Sam waved her hand dismissively, ushering him into the bathroom. HJ exited the bathroom, poking at the food on his tray.
"What is this?" HJ asked.
"Waffles." Sam said. "Jay got them from the Waffle Hut for me and not Mal."
"Do you feel special Sam?" HJ asked as he bit into the waffle, not bothering to use the fork and knife.
"No." Sam said. "I don't think he was planning on giving it to me. It was for Mal but he gave it to me when he saw me and Mal looked rather angry."
"Mal's being a bitch really." HJ said. "I don't know what her problem is."
Sam picked a blackberry off his tray, telling him what it was as she did so.
"Blackberries." Sam said. "I liked them so Jay gave me all of them because he hated them. Though I don't know he could. They taste nice."
HJ tried one and agreed with her. He finished his food, so they headed out of the dorm, tossing the tray into a recycling bin like it instructed them to.
HJ has no idea what recycling was, he'd never heard of the word and he didn't feel like asking about it. He wasn't that interested.
"What's our first class?" HJ asked as he pulled their schedules out of his bag. He scanned over his schedule, frowning.
REMEDIAL GOODNESS 101 HISTORY OF WOODSMEN AND PIRATES SAFETY RULES OF THE INTERNET CHEMISTRY LUNCH BASIC CHIVALRY MATHEMATICS HISTORY OF AURADON ROAR PRACTICE
HJ and Sam shared the same classes at the beginning of they day. But after lunch, Sam was tasked to meet with Ben at his office to begin her duties as his newest royal advisor. HJ still had no idea what ROAR was but he supposed he'd find out at the end of the day.
HJ and Sam roamed the halls, trying to pass time without being late to their first day. Soon the bell rang and they found Remedial Goodness
Fairy Godmother rapidly asked them questions, that seemed self explanatory.
"If someone hands you a crying baby do you, (A) Curse it? (B) Lock it in a tower. (C) Give it a bottle?, or (D) Carve out its heart?" F.G say.
Sam raised her hand enthusiastically.
"Sam?"
"What was the second one?" Sam asked as F.G's smile faltered. "I'm only kidding. "(C) Give it a bottle"
"Correct." F.G complimented before questioning them furthermore. They went through their next shared classes, none of them peaking of interest. Peter Pan and Sam had gone back and forth during their History of Woodsmen and Pirates class about nothing in particular. It had seemed they had just enjoyed bickering with one another. At the end of the class, Peter Pan had declared Sam as one of his favorite students and it had made a brunette rather angry.
Said brunette had also been in their Safety of the Internet class and HJ had pretended that he didn't see her glaring at them the entire time. She also happened to be in their Chemistry class and by then HJ and Sam had gained a mutual hatred for the girl for whatever reason she wanted to be the way she was.
It was lunch time now and Evie, who had seen them in the hallway led them to where the VKs ate lunch
Evie sat next to Mal who sat next to Ben, as Gigi and Jay took a seat next to Carlos and Maddie. Pandora and Talia sat at the shorter ends of the table, with Crystal and Ally sitting across from them. Sam sat next to Ally which left HJ to sit next to Talia. They were in silence until the daughter of Captain Hook showed up with Dizzy in tow.
"Sam!" CJ said. "So glad to see you darling."
"I couldn't say the same about you." Sam said as CJ's smile faltered. "I'm kidding Callie. I'm glad to see you too."
"Oh thank goodness." CJ said. "I thought you were holding something against me."
"Do I have a reason to?" Sam asked as CJ shook her head.
"Not that I can think of." CJ said. "But you're good at remembering all the little things and using it to hate someone later. Well I saw you so I can go now."
HJ rolled his eyes at her and CJ caught it.
"Oh it's HJ." CJ said. "Hi."
"Hi CJ." HJ said as the girl walked away to her own table with Freddie and Zevon.
"So how was your day so far?" Ben asked.
"Fun!" Dizzy said.
"What about you guys?" Ben asked HJ and Sam.
"It was great." Sam said, sarcastically. "Except that girl over there has been glaring at us the whole time." Sam pointed to the brunette that had been following them.
Then the girl did something else, standing up and walking toward them. For some reason, all of the people at the table excluding Sam, Dizzy and himself looked panicked and HJ had no idea why.
