Lilia threaded her way through downtown Hawkins on her way to the Shady Springs motel.

Shady was definitely the right name for the place for it was a pay by the hour motel with prostitutes loitering around every corner.

Lilia was no better, she supposed, as she ducked into the small alcove that gave way to the motel.

Room number is 101. That's where she was headed. The blonde wondered what would be waiting for her on the other side of the door.

It didn't really matter as long as it wasn't the never bathing Randall Johnson. He might tip well but you risked whatever STDs he might have in the process.

What she found on the other side was almost alarming.

A young, pretty blonde sat on the edge of the bed counting a wad of money, tears obvious on her cheeks. She was just in lingerie and her makeup was a little smudged, but to Lilia she looked beautiful.

"Emmy." Lilia breathed.

Emily looked up, a smile growing on her face. "Hey, Lils."

"Did you..." Lilia couldn't bring herself to say it, but she already knew the answer.

Emily had taken her place.

"Oh, Emmy, why would you do that?" Lilia threw her arms around the girl and hugged her tightly.

Emily buried her head in Lilia's shoulder and cried. "I-I didn't want you to have to."

Lilia kisses her head. "I'm used to it, baby girl." She sighed.

Sure Emily and her had met through their work, but Emily wasn't used to the clients the other girl kept.

They stayed like this for awhile until Lilia stood and helped her up. "Let's get you cleaned up and go get some food, yeah?"

Emmy nodded, brushing strands of blonde from her hair. "Please."

"You're absolutely insane." Millie giggled, chucking a fry at her shaggy haired best friend.

Julian caught the fry in his mouth, smiling brightly afterwards. "No I'm serious, he was so looking at you during Chem class yesterday."

"Finn is the least of my concerns right now." She stated, taking a sip of her coke.

Julian was hooked on the fact that Millie strung the poor Wolfhard boy along like a puppy on a leash.

But he didn't know that the two had a deal to make their parents happy and themselves.

It was like one of those fake dating situations you read about in books and fanfictions.

"Yeah well he stares at you like you're his last meal on death row." Julian observed.

Millie only shrugged. "Whatever."

"Whatever what?" Noah slid into the booth beside Millie.

"Nothing." She smiled. "Hey long time no see, how was France?" She asked.

"Awesome. It was so beautiful and everyone was so nice." Noah grinned,

Noah Schnapp was Millie's other best friend. Her very over the top eccentric best friend who would almost appear gay if he didn't like women so much.

They sorta fell into silence after all the pleasantries were over. This normally happened when the three were together without Noah's redheaded girlfriend Sadie to keep a conversation up.

Sitting there in their corner booth at Cafe DiLaurentis didn't feel right to the trio anymore, not when her empty loomed up at them. It was a lot easier out somewhere or in one of their bedrooms, but at the cafe the empty space always sat waiting.

The empty space next to Jules which would always and forever belonged to Madison Nicole Ziegler, the space she would never occupy again.

Maddie had been the one who connected the group together like glue, and now without her they felt lost.

No one mentioned it though, the boys out of respect for Millie, and Millie couldn't even say her name without crying.

"Here's your food." A waitress in her mid-forties sat a to-go bag down on the table in front of Noah.

Noah smiled gratefully at her. "Well I'll see you guys later." He stood with his food. "Sadie's waiting on me." He left without so much as a nod from the others.

Once he left, Millie stood. "I should go now it's getting late." She lied, picking up her purse.

Jules nodded slowly. "I'll see you tomorrow then." He wasn't asking he knew Millie would be around. She was always around.

As Millie turned to leave she bumped headfirst into someone. "I'm so sorry." She apologized hurrying out the door.

"You better be!" Lilia wrinkled her nose in disgust, turning to check that Emily was alright. "Some people have absolutely no manners."
