"I don't like this." Emily sunk into the chair across from Asher at the Madhatter. "She's doing something to her head."
It was barely noon so the place was deserted and the lights were normal instead of black.
Emily was almost livid about Lilia slowly growing new obsession. They had spent the whole day together yesterday, and yet all Lilia had done was search for one Madison N. Ziegler the whole time.
Asher took a long sip from his coke can before answering the blonde. "I know I didn't like what I saw in the club." He agreed. "Lils is taking this little obsession with the chief's daughter quite serious."
"It's dangerous!" Emily said, slapping her hand against the wooden table. "She's gonna get herself killed or worse inprisoned."
Asher chuckled at the comment. Emily was always one for the theatrics so he couldn't fault her for the outburst-nevertheless she was one of my best friends.
"Don't worry prisons have conjugal visits, Emmy." Asher teased.
"Oh shut up, Ashy, where's your boy?"
Just then the door opened and in walked a boy with blondish-brown short hair and the most gorgeous blue eyes Asher had ever seen. "Hey, Willie, glad to see you came to visit. To what do I owe the honor?"
"I live here." Will defended himself, British accent thick. "Emily, pleasure as always." He grinned to her, taking a seat in between the two. It wasn't a pleasure especially when Emily was involved in his life.
"Anywho I need a favor." Emily said bluntly.
Will nodded. "From which one?" He knew the answer.
"From the techy one, of course." Emily pulled a piece of paper from her pocket then handed it to Will. "Two someone's actually."
Will looked down at the neatly printed names: Madison N. Ziegler, Millie B. Brown.
"By when?" He nodded slowly, the names looking oddly familiar to him.
Emily looked at him like she was waiting for him to say he was kidding. "Tomorrow, please, moppet."
"Watch your mouth!" Asher snapped. "He's helping you so you better be grateful."
Will laced his fingers with Asher's and gave them a light squeeze. "It's fine, Ash, and I will try to have it by tomorrow, but no promises."
She stood and pressed her hands hard into the table below her. "Make sure it's good dirt on them too, I wanna know every little secret the two have or share." She said, sounding a little cynical like some super villain. "See ya, lovebirds."
"Cruella De Vil has left the building." Will quipped as soon as the blonde devil was gone.
He walked toward the bar to set open for when they opened, humming the familiar Disney tone while he worked.
"Be nice." Asher said. He didn't like when Will made jokes about Emily because if he knew the old Emily he would know why she was the way she was.
Will shrugged a shoulder. "What does Lilia see in her anyway? I mean Emily literally took one of Lilia's jobs because she wanted to see how the guy Lilia complained about was, then lied and told Lilia that it was because she didn't want her to have to." He ranted. "Now she's digging up something on Lilia's new friend, why? Because she's scared Lilia is going to leave her for this Millie?"
"First of all," Asher began. "that was too many Lilia's in one breath. Secondly, if you knew Emily like I did-the old Emily-you wouldn't say those kinds of things about her. She's just worried for Lils."
"She's worried about herself like she usually is." Will muttered, drying off a glass. "Say whatever you want, but it'll never make me like her."
Asher didn't argue, he knew better to with the stubborn bartender.
He had better things to do, and one of those things Emily had given him the idea for.
He knew the name and better yet he knew why too.
Emily would never get her hands on any information about either girl as long as he could prevent it. The secret would remain buried in the past. Nothing before last winder when Lilia moved there counted, and he intended to keep it that way.
