Lilia hadn't meant what she said to Emily. In fact, the her that would have used someone to get herself out of trouble was long gone.

But after everything that Emily had just done, how could she tell her that her heart belonged to the chief's daughter?

Sure what Lilia had just done weren't have went over so well with Millie, but afterall her parents had raised her to do just that.

Her fake parents. The ones who bought her only to sell her out from the time she was five.

A part of her wanted to run to Asher and her old life, but she couldn't.

Millie came first. Lilia had to see that she was okay after the Sadie thing.

So she found herself wondering up the driveway.

Rachel set out front when she got there, smiling at her phone.

"Brooke?" Lilia asked casually.

Rachel looked up and smiled. "He's the sweetest." She returned to typing.

Lilia stepped into the house, kicked off her shoes, and headed for the bedroom. "Mills!"

But what she found once she got there was an empty room.

No an actual empty room.

Most the clothes were missing from the closet, and everything looked so neat you would have thought it was a showroom.

A note perched atop the duvet with Lilia's name scribbled on it.

She quickly picked it up, turning it over to read what was inside.

Dear Lilia,
I know this may be a little hard to swallow at the moment. But I can't risk letting Cameron hurt anyone else and therefore I must go away. I'm sorry you weren't there for me to say goodbye. Please know I love you more than I believe I have anyone in this world.
Stay my Lilia forever? Don't go back to the drug dealing hooker you once were because it would break my heart to see.

I left something in the bedside drawer for you. I had hoped to be able to give it to your parents myself, and to see the look on your face when you were finally free. To know you are free from them, however, I suppose is just as good.
There's enough money to buy yourself from them and get settled somewhere new. Please do.
Maybe one day down the road we will meet again. But until then this is goodbye.
Love always,
Millie

Lilia let the note flutter to the floor. She didn't know what to make of any of this, but she knew someone who would. She dug her phone from her jeans then hit call.

"Hey, Ash, can you meet me in thirty?"

Asher Angel found himself in the middle of a hard spot. He was stuck between telling his best friend the truth, or keeping Millie's secret safe.

He knew where the dark haired girl was. What she planned on doing and what it would take.

So by the time Lilia got there, Asher was so beyond confused.

"Slow down, babe, that's your sixth drink." Will advised, placing a hand on his boyfriend's shoulder. "You'll know what to do."

"I'm not so sure of that." Asher downed the alcohol. "Where's Annie?"

Will scanned the floor. "In the back. Why?"

"I want to pin Lilia off on her at any moment." He answered.

Will smiled at Lilia, watching as she walked to them with an air of attitude.

She wrapped her arms around Asher's shoulders and kissed his cheek. "Hiya, Ashy."

"Hey, baby, where've you been the last little bit." Asher put a hand over hers.

Lilia sighed. "We'll get into that later, but for now I need your help."

After twenty or so minutes, Asher was all filled in on the last two months.

He understood how badly Lilia loved and needed Millie.

He also understood that Millie needed this time. She needed to keep everyone safe until he could take care of Cameron and his lankies.

Which Asher would. He gave his word to the girl.

"Ash!" Annie burst into the room. "I'm sorry to interrupt but Joshua found him."

Asher stood. "I'm sorry but I have to go, Lils." He grabbed his jacket. "This is important."

Joshua had found Cameron, and Asher was prepared to kill him.

Lilia jumped up. "What? Wait!" She clutched his arm. "Go where?"

"Just come on, Rosie." Ash pulled her out of the room with him. "If you've still got it."
