Lilia watched from the passenger seat of Chief Harbour's car as he dealt with Mrs. Ramond's missing cat case. There wasn't really much of a case considering Chosen Jacobs had accidentally ran over dear old Whiskers a few days prior.

She was pretty sure the cat was buried in the next door neighbor's rose bushes at that moment. The sixth Whiskers to bite the dust. However; just like all over six times, Whiskers would show back up on Mrs. Ramond's front veranda like he had just been out for a stroll.

That's what Lilia liked about people in this town, they cared enough to replace a middle aged woman's beloved cat in the dead of night.

Not that she didn't have better things to do with her time then sit handcuffed to the dash in a squad car, but Lilia really did enjoy seeing all the different people. Normally the people she interacted with only wanted one of two things.

She was going to be living with the chief and his daughter for at least the next month of sorta house arrest so she was going to have to get used to doing this stuff when Millie wasn't home to babysit her.

Her phone chimed and she slowly picked it up. A text from Emily. Oh joy!

Emmy:
Movie?

Lils:
Can't sorry I'm staying in with Millie

She didn't get a response after that only a read which meant Emily was probably upset, but Lilia didn't really care anymore. Her feelings for Emily had died out a long time ago-let's face it their friendship was a lot better. At least then things didn't feel so rushed and forced yet Emily couldn't seem to see it. Not now that she had met Millie.

With Millie everything was perfect, easy, and calm. Lilia never had to pretend to be interest in what the girl was saying or make herself into something she wasn't, but yet a huge problem still loomed.

She needed to figure out where and how that girl fit into the equation. How she could get Millie to open up to her about the night of the big storm.

Maybe tonight when they were home alone Lilia could get Millie to finally talk about that night.

Cameron Field was the one person Millie absolutely hated with every inch in her body. He was the vile scum of the earth. Hitler reincarnated as far as she was concerned. He was the most raciest, homophobic man she had ever encountered. So when he approached her in the local mall, she couldn't help but shrink into Jules some.

He, of course, noticed and immediately wrapped his arms protectively around his best friend. "Don't even think about it, Field." He threatened. "I will crush you if I have to."

The truth of the matter was Julian could never in his wildest dreams take the older boy, but for Millie he would certainly try. She had been his best friend since they were three therefore he planned to be her friend til they were a hundred and three.

Cameron snickered, running a hand through his platinum, spiky excuse for hair. "Please, chill your tits I'm only here to talk to the slut."

Millie rolled her eyes and watched as he slid into the booth across from them. "What did you possible want with me." Then she added more quietly. "You've already taken everything from me."

He seemed to like the sound of that, but didn't speak on it. "Well there's a lot I would like from you." His eyes scanned her body making her retreat farther into Jules.

"Get on with it, you have two minutes." Jules warned. "Make it snappy."

"I can do it in one." Cameron said cockily. "I hear people are starting to inquire into the death of Maddie, and believe me if you've said anything you'll be the next body to wash up."

"I h-haven't I p-p-promise." She stuttered out, tears already pricking at her eyes.

"I'm sure it's just some out of town reporter working on stuff, or maybe some college student working on a paper about the dangers of lakes and wanted to see how many people drown in the past five years." Jules suggested. "Now your two minutes are up, Field, please get your butt up before I call security over."

Cameron rolled his eyes. "One day I'm going to check you when none of your body guards are around, Millie, and believe me when that day comes me and you are gonna have so much fun." He said, smirking.

Millie watched his figure retreat until all she could see was the opening where he had gone. "Jules."

"I'm right here, precious, right here." He hugged her close, hand on the side of her head to keep her close. "He can't hurt you ever again."
