A wide smile grew on Millie's face at those words. She threw open the door and tore down the stairs, taking them two at a time.

There he was in all his glory of black swept curls and random band shirts that never made any sense to Millie.

"Finn!" She practically yelled, jumping into his open arms.

Finn spun her around. "Hey, beautiful." He kissed her head.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, burring her face in his soft curls.

Finn held her as close as he could get her. "Came to visit," Then he added quietly. "Noah might has told me you needed me."

She grinned and gently kissed the side of his neck. "Upstairs right now."

Noah bit his lip nervously. "So you're telling me that in the past month you've met up with Vera seven times?" He couldn't believe his ears.

"Yep. She's super nice." Lilia nodded. "So what's the plan on getting her and Millie in the same spot?"

"Well....... I called Finn and he will make sure she's at the grove at four-thirty." Noah informed.

"Who's Finn?"

He looked up at the blonde like she had just asked who the Kardashians were. "Finn's Millie's boyfriend. They're kinda betrothed." He told her.

He never got it because they weren't in love, and Millie never spoke about so he never asked. That was how everything was in a friendship with her: no question.

Lilia looked confused and sad at once. Boyfriend? Betrothed? How could that be? Millie had just asked her if she'd be her girlfriend. Maybe she was into poly relationships?

"You okay, Lils?" Noah asked.

Lilia smiled tightly. "Yeah. Where's Sadie?"

Noah and Sadie were practically glued at the hip; therefore it was odd to her that the redhead wasn't somewhere in the room.

"I don't know. I haven't seen her since yesterday around lunch, and she isn't answering her phone." He sighed. "She's probably busy."

Lilia frowned. "Sorry, Noah." She said finally. "I'm sure she is."

Three hours later, Finn and Millie were walking around the Grove hand in hand. They weren't in love nor were they physical in any way, but you'd never know it.

They were close. Finn was the person Millie could tell anything without judgement. He was the one she knew would always understand no matter what.

Millie pointed to a store. "Sadie works in there. I'll be back in second."

"Have fun." Finn let go of her hand and watched her walk away.

If you asked anyone Finn was hung up over everything that was Millie Harbour, but that wasn't the case. Millie was his everything in a platonic way, had been since they were kids.

Millie hurried to the counter, tapping her nails on the glass as she waited for someone to show up. "Sades?" She called out.

She waited a moment more before slipping behind the counter. "Sadie Sink!" She called more forcefully.

This no answer so Millie dove further into the back of the store. "This isn't funny, babe." She pushed open the break room door, but no one was inside.

"Hello?" She peaked around the corner. "Sadie, come on! This isn't funny."

Millie made it past all the rooms to the storage room. "You in here, honey?" She walked into the room, shivering at the mannequins who seemed to be staring at her.

She dodged mannequin arms and boxes of shipped clothes until something caught her attention. A redish smear across one of the mannequin arms.

"Blood?" She asked confused. "Sadie! Stop it!"

Walking more, the red drips appeared in dots on the ground. That's when she saw it.

The pink Nikes.

Sadie's pink Nikes.

The ones her and Millie had gotten from the mall for her eighteenth birthday.

Millie ran to where the shoes stuck out, and came to a stop. A scream caught in her throat.

The redheaded girl she had come to love for her humor and over the top optimism was slumped against a box in a pool of blood.

The scream must have been louder than she thought because the sound of sneakers hitting the marble floors bounced from the walls.
