Millie laid on her bed that night listening to the rain hit the roof as she waited on Lilia to get out of the shower. It seemed to be raining almost every day the past couple of weeks and Millie absolutely hated it.

The longer she sat here, the more she fell back into that night, to the world that haunted Millie in her sleep.

To July eleventh when her life was changed forever. The night Cameron Field robbed her of her happiness.

Millie played with her fingers as she waited for six-thirty to arrive when she'd have to tell Maddie the bad news. It had come faster than she thought.

"Princess?" Maddie walked into the bedroom, interrupting her thoughts. "What did he say?"

"He said I can't go because of the big storm that's suppose to be headed this way." Millie sighed, pouting a little. "But it's perfectly sunny outside."

They were suppose to go swimming at the lake, but due to some oncoming storm she wasn't allowed to go anymore. Which meant she had to spend the whole night listening to Rachel drone on and on about Brooklyn again.

Maddie smiles softly. "I know, my angel, but he only worries about you." She gently kissed Millie's lips. "I'll see you tomorrow regardless and we can go swimming then."

Millie looked up at her with puppy dug eyes. "Do you have to go? We could just watch movies and cuddle?"

"I would love nothing more to lay in bed with you and do that, but I promised Kenz I would take her to the lake." Maddie explained, tucking a few strands of hair behind Millie's ear. "Call me if your father changes his mind, yeah?"

Millie ran her fingers through Maddie newly dyed blonde hair and smiles. "Yeah I will." She kissed her again. "I'll see you later, baby."

She laid in the bed for what felt like hours, listening to the light pitter patter of rain falling against the then tin roof until she couldn't take it any longer.

Millie threw on her jacket and shoes quickly then headed for the window. She was going out if it was the last thing she ever did, but little did she know what the night held yet.

In a matter of minutes she was on the winding path that led to the lake. Praying as she skipped each twig that Kenzie and Maddie would still be at the lake considering they'd been there an hour.

As she drew closer, however, she heard the cries of a child. Odd but she guessed others were at the lake too even with the rain.

But that wasn't the fact. Mackenzie sat in the dirt with Cameron Field's lacky Nicholas holding her down by the shoulders. She was heavily crying and screaming for help.

"Oh would you shut up already!" Nicholas snapped, clamping his hand down over Mackenzie's mouth. "Stupid twelve-year-old's."

Millie was extremely confused at the whole thing so she stayed quiet and watched for a moment.

Mackenzie was too scared to fight back so she closed her eyes and waited for it to be over.

"I wish Cam would just get it over with already I hate being babysitter." Nicholas spat at the ground. "I mean look it's just me and you, pipsqueak, while Cammy boy is killing that pretty little sister of yours." He tugged at one of Kenzie's pigtails.

Killing your sister? Maddie?

Suddenly, Millie wasn't worried about Mackenzie with the dumb brunette. She tore down the path-alerting Nicholas as she ran-and made it to the other side of the lake in time to see Cameron on his knees with a fist full of Maddie's hair in his hand.

Maddie was soaking wet with hair sticking to her temples, her face pale and she was visible shaking. Her chest rose and fell unsteadily with uneven, shallow breaths as she was forced to look him in the eyes.

Cameron was saying something, but Millie couldn't hear so she crept closer.

"Now it's ashame your little girlfriend couldn't be here she's quite the thing to look at." Cameron said. "I'd still kill you, but I'd let you watch me take her first."

Millie rolled her eyes. The way he spoke was idiotic to her, and the things he thought he could get away with were even more laughable.

Maddie looked furious despite her appearance. "Don't you touch her." She said through gritted teeth.

She fought to get away from his grip resulting in him dipping her into the water and holding her down for a moment.

Millie watched unable to do anything as he held her under.

Cameron brought her back out and smirked. "I didn't ask you to talk, did I, but since you did I will tell you to mark my words." He paused dramatically. "I will have Millie but sadly you won't be around to see it."

Maddie started to speak but Cameron held her under again. This time he held her under until she no longer fought against him.

Millie clamped a hand down over her mouth to muffle her screams, tears slipping from her eyes. She couldn't believe her eyes. Cameron had killed Maddie like she swore he would so many times before.

"Mills?" Lilia's voice cut through the memory before it could go any farther. She stood beside the bed, blonde hair still damp from the shower. "You okay?"

"Y-yeah, I am." Millie answered, nodding a little.

Lilia wiped a tear from the other girl's cheek and smiled. "I have those moments sometimes too, sweetheart." She said softly.

"I guess everyone has those moments."

"I guess." Lilia sat next to her on the purple comforter. "What should we do know? You wanna watch a movie?"

Millie nodded, turning to look at her. "Yeah, you pick."

Lilia didn't look away, though, she was lost in Millie's chocolate eyes. "Mill-"

She did an unexpected thing and kissed Lilia.
