His fingers threaded through her soft, short dark curls as he forced her to look up at him. "It's a shame such a pretty girl like you is so reckless." He sneered, never breaking eye contact.

She tore his eyes from his merciless dark ones to stare at a smear of crimson on the ground. The smear she had caused.

"Cat got your tongue, kitten?" He asked. "That's okay there'll be plenty of time for walking right now." He drew a needle filled with some yellow liquid from his back pocket. "Now, kitten, just sleep in the morning we'll talk."

Twenty-four Hours Earlier........

Lilia stood panicked at the sound of Will's voice. She glanced into the doorway where a frantic Annie stood with a hand on Will's shoulder.

Annie was adopted into Will's family at the age of seven when her whole family died in a fire. A fire that had happened mysteriously.

She was a kind girl and Lilia's heart reached out to her. "Annie, go out the back, okay?"

Annie glanced at Asher before scurrying out the back way. Lilia cracked her knuckles, waiting for the raid that never came because Asher pushed her out the door.

"Hey!" Lilia reached for the door handle when Annie grabbed her from behind and tugged her forward.

"Not now!" Annie pushed her toward the car. "It isn't a raid they just need you out of there."

Lilia was stunned. Why would Ash kick her out? He never kicked her out. She was his rose and his partner in crime.

Annie didn't give her any answers on the car ride to her house, and when they got there Lilia told her she would only be a moment. She only needed to do one thing.

Millie paced Dacre's kitchen as she waited for him to get off the phone. She was so nervous after everything she had told about Cameron if he didn't find him she would certainly be dead by tomorrow.

Dacre got off the phone, his look grim. "Mills, I'm sorry but they can't find him."

"What do you mean?" She practically screamed at him. "....I'm sorry I shouldn't have raised my voice."

"Don't worry about that and he's a ghost." Her cousin ran a hand through his hair. "Cameron isn't working alone on this. He's been hired."

"Hired? Who would have hired him to kill me? I'm nothing."

He almost laughed. "You're the chief's daughter, cous, that makes you a target."

"But what about Maddie and Sadie?" None of this made sense to Millie.

"Maddie was a hired hit too from what I could find out. Someone wants you dead bad enough that they had Sadie killed in order to get to you." Darce explained. "They probably want information on her."

Millie nodded. "Excuse me."

"Of course."

Millie made her way to the bathroom, fished out her phone, and called Vera. After all that she just needed to talk with her mother-besides her father wasn't picking up any calls.

"You going to tell her?" Maya asked, leaning against the kitchen counter.

Dacre looked up from his laptop at his sandy haired friend, sighing. "Tell her what, M? That someone she trusts has betrayed her?"

Maya sighed softly. "She should know who really wants her dead, Day. She deserves that." She hated the idea of the teenage girl so sad and scared.

"Maybe while you're at it you should tell Millie about her father." Joe spoke up for the first time since they arrived. "You know, that he's dead?"

Maya nodded in agreement. "Break it to her easily."

"Would you, Maya?" Darce didn't look at her. "She's known you her whole life and she trusts you. Plus you're a girl."

"Good job, captain obvious." Maya lifted her coffee cup to her lips. "But I'll do it."

Dacre smiled gratefully at her. He couldn't bare to tell his little cousin that the parent who had raised her was dead. She had already lost so many people.

Millie answered her phone. "Yes, Julian?" She listened for a moment, almost dropping her phone. "Noah what? I'll be right there."

She gathered her stuff and left quietly to head for a hospital she knew all too well.
