I did do what I told her I would do. The next day she was allowed to go home. I took her phone and left her home to detach. When her parents would text her, I would pretend to be her and tell them everything was going well.
We were now into our second week of June, Sam was over five months pregnant and was getting even bigger. I was loving every second of it. I would touch her stomach whenever I could and would feel our baby kicking. It was an amazing feeling. I had a new appreciation for Sam. She made looking pregnant so easy and beautiful. Her destress fest helped her a lot and she seemed to be doing a lot better physically and emotionally.
We were in our second last week of classes and you could tell the seniors were starting to feel it. I included. I would rather be home than be at school. The school year was becoming repetitive and I honestly was over it. I just wanted to move on with my life and graduate high school. I had a plan today though, which I was kind of excited for.
Hunt: Are you ready to help me with this?
Xav: Are you sure she's gonna wanna go? She might tell you to fuck off.
Hunt: It's every girls' dream to go to prom dumbass. Are you going to help me or not?
Xav: Yes, just wait a few minutes.
The gang was something Xav and I never talked about anymore. He was in and I wasn't, which I was surprisingly okay with. I was glad I got an out. I didn't want to get back in it.
I still hadn't told Sam that I wasn't in the gang anymore. Xav might have told her, but I wasn't sure about that. I was telling her today, while asking her to prom. Even though she was pregnant, she deserved to have an unforgettable senior year. She deserved it.
My cast comes off a week before prom, which is why I'm doing my promposal today. I patiently waited for Xav to come pick me up and I hobbled my way to his car. "Took you long enough," I said as I got in.
"Oh, whatever asshole. Just get in and shut up." Xav replied.
"Did you not get laid last night? Is that why you're in such a pissy mood?" I asked my best friend, teasing him.
"As a matter-of-fact, I did get laid. I'm in a pissy mood because you dragged my ass up out of bed."
"What the fuck are you doing still in bed at 4 in the afternoon?"
"I was busy well into the morning." He stated. I knew he was probably talking about doing something with the gang, so I left it at that. I didn't want to know, and I didn't really care. I just wanted to get this promposal out of the way.
"Where are we going anyways?"
"The dollar store is fine, I just got to get something to ask Sam to prom."
"You two are on speaking terms now?"
"As good as it can be. I still think we need to talk about some things, but I don't want to stress her out and cause her to go into premature labour again. That scares the living shit out of me."
"As it should, that is scary shit."
"So, today is just going to be about a promposal and dress shopping. Everyone is going to find out she is pregnant soon."
"Are you ready for that?"
"Sure, it's not like we're going to be there for much longer. We're done in two weeks. I'm shocked I didn't ask Sam to prom sooner. I'm glad everyone else stayed away from her though."
"I think they stayed away because they know she's yours," he replied, smirking at me.
"Whatever happened to Novak anyways?" I asked him. I hadn't seen him around school in months, not that I cared.
"As far as I know, he transferred out."
"Really?"
"That's what I heard, anyways." Xav admitted.
I had a feeling he was lying, but I decided to drop it and just leave it at that. I hobbled into the store and got Bristol board, and markers. I had the perfect idea for the promposal, and it was so funny. We both were going to laugh when she read it.
I walked out of the store and told Xav to take me to the flower shop, I wanted to get Sam her favourite flowers, red roses. Once all that was done, Xav brought me home and I started to make her promposal.
Once I was done, I was pretty impressed with myself. The sign was all done, and I looked at it laughing to myself.
I grabbed the flowers and walked over to Sam's house. I walked in without bothering to knock. Our parents were due to be home in the next week and a half. They would find out Sam was pregnant then. That would either be good or bad, there was no in between about that.
"Sam, where are you?" I called out, from the living room.
"My room!"
I walked up and there she was, looking on her computer.
"We should design the baby's room," she replied.
She was still looking at her computer. "Sam," I replied holding up the sign.
She looked at me then and started to read the sign. "I already have a broken leg. Don't give me a broken heart, too. Prom?"
She looked at me in shock. "Well? Would you like to go to prom with me?" I asked her.
"Really?" She asked, continuing to stare at the sign.
I held the roses out to her. "I wouldn't want to go with anyone else," I admitted.
"Are you sure? You don't have to go with me just because I'm pregnant with your kid."
"Sam, would you like to go to prom with me, yes or no?"
She looked at me, contemplating an answer. "Yes!" She squealed, hopping off the bed and running over to wrap her arms around me.
I started to laugh. "I'm glad you said yes, I thought you were going to say no for a minute."
"I wouldn't say no to you, you know that." She paused for a second and looked up at me. "Now about the baby's room..."
"Nope, not today. We're going dress shopping."
"Really?"
"Prom is in a couple weeks, which means our parents are going to find out about the baby, I want you to look good. Plus, you're not going to be able to fit into any of your old clothes any day now, we should get you mat clothes. You can't keep wearing my clothes forever."
"You're too good to me," she replied.
"Research. I've just done a lot of research." I replied, kissing her forehead. I've been reading parenting books, I can honestly say it's one of the scariest things I've read. The only reason I am reading these books, is so I'm as prepared as I can be.
"I'm so glad we're back to our norm," Sam mumbled.
"Me too," I replied.
