Arriving to school on Monday, I bid Sam a good day in classes and went on a hunt for Novak. Xavier and Luke were with me and they both knew what was up and what I was about to do.
Nobody hurts Samantha Dawson and gets away with it. Absolutely no one. I don't care who you are. Everyone in this school knew not to mess with Sam. You mess with her; you mess with me. And nobody wanted to get on my bad side. Not until today at least.
Once I found him, locking lips with some chick. I looked at him and called him out. "Novak!"
He separated his lips from the chick and turned to look at me. His face sunk. He knew what was up, and the fucker knew what he did. He didn't even bother to apologize to her. Prick.
Once I walked up to him, I slammed my fist into his face. I didn't even wait for him to recover before I bashed him in the face again. His nose started to bleed, and I felt a sense of pride. He fell to the floor and I kicked him in the stomach. I kicked him a couple more times before the boys pulled me off. "You ever touch her like that again, I will end you Novak!" I yelled.
"Dude, we have to get out of here before you get in shit." Luke said to me.
"The fucker had it coming, and I will tell that to the principal, to the teachers or whoever tries to punish me. He fucking should have known I would come after him the second I found out! Sam doesn't keep secrets from me. He tried to force himself on her. What fucking douche bag tries to do that to a woman? I won't be apologizing for that. He had it coming." I snarled, walking away with Xavier and Luke.
I walked to the bathroom to wash the blood off my knuckles. I was perfectly fine, he didn't manage to get a hit on me.
I wasn't alone in the bathroom for long though. News travels fast through this school, apparently.
"Hunt!" Sam called out, storming into the guys bathroom. "You can't just go beat someone up, especially on school grounds! You could get suspended! You are in grade twelve now, colleges are looking at you! You have to stop fighting people without a care in the world!" Sam yelled at me.
"Sam, you're in the boy's bathroom." I stated. She never did care about things like that though. Once she was angry enough, nothing would stop her from what she had to say.
"I don't care. Are you okay?" She replied, walking up to me and looking at my knuckles.
That's the other great thing about her, once she yells at me for fucking up, she starts to worry and make sure I'm okay. "I'm fine, he didn't even get a hit on me." I replied, proudly.
"If I knew you were going to beat him up, I never would have left you to go to class."
"I told you I was going to kick his ass," I replied.
"But I told you not to."
"I've told you before Sam and I will tell you again, nobody touches you like that and gets away with it. I'm always going to protect you. I mean it." She slapped me in the face. "Ow," I exclaimed.
"I told you not to beat him up! But, thank-you, for always being there for me and protecting me," she whispered. "I would not have survived everything that has happened to me, without you." She replied, hugging me. A slap and a hug in the span of five seconds? Fuck. This girl gives me whiplash.
I had a feeling she was talking about everything with her uncle as well, but I wouldn't touch on that subject. I pulled her closer into my chest. "I'm always going to protect you, Sammy. Always." I whispered.
She wrapped her arms around me and squeezed me tightly. "I love you," she mumbled against my chest.
"I love you too, Sam."
"Thank-you for beating up Novak for me."
"Now you're grateful? You were yelling at me earlier."
"That was then, and this is now," she stated.
"It was literally like not even five minutes ago," I replied laughing.
"Shh," she replied. "I have to get out of this bathroom now before guys start coming in and hanging out their penis to pee."
That made me laugh even harder than I already was. "You're so innocent," I replied, still laughing.
"I wish I was, Hunter. I wish I was." Her smile quickly turned into a frown and I knew I brought her back to the horrible part of her childhood.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to bring you back there." I replied.
"I won't forget it, no matter how hard I try. Don't blame yourself."
"Mmhm." I replied, dropping it.
My phone buzzed, and I turned my attention to it.
Xav: He was taken to the hospital, they think you broke his nose.
Smirking, I replied.
Hunter: Good. He deserved it. It's the least I could do for him.
Xav: He was pretty pissed off when you left. He might target you next.
Hunter: Good, let him.
Xav: What happens if he comes after her again?
Hunter: The gang will handle it then. I gave him a warning.
Xav: Sounds good man
I turned my attention back to Sam. She looked to be more relieved now than she did before. There is one thing I have been keeping from her though. Well two things I guess now, the bet and the gang. I wonder what she'll think when she finds out about both things.
"Hey," I said, turning my attention to her. "I need to talk to you after school. You're riding home with me, right?"
"Or course I am, Hunt. Who else would I be going home with? It's not like I have a boyfriend or anything."
Yet. It's not like she has a boyfriend yet. My stomach churned at the thought. "Good.Well, I'll see you at lunch then." I replied, walking out of the bathroom withher. She went left to her class and I went in the opposite direction to mine.
