Chapter 37

"Did you not even think to look into his background?!" I roared.

"We did!" N replied. "This piece of information was well hidden."

"What do you mean, well hidden? Do you even realize she is almost 6 months pregnant? She can't handle this shit!"

"What do you want me to tell you, H? Send her away! Buy her a ticket for a trip out of here until we get this situation resolved!"

"Prom is this week!" I snapped. "She isn't going to miss her prom and you know that. Come up with something else. Fast."

I was currently back at the house I was trying to avoid. The gang headquarters. Xav was beside me and B was beside N. Sam was somewhere in this house as we were trying to come up with a solution and I didn't want her involved.

"What do you want me to do? I've done what I could with the Boars, they're targeting you, not me. Just hand her over and this shit will be resolved." N replied.

"HAND HER OVER? HAVE YOU LOST YOUR DAMN MIND?" I hollered. "She is carrying a kid! You did this by hiring Novak in the first place! I've been patient and now I'm telling you one thing, you have two fucking days to solve this before I take matters into my own hands and you don't want me to."

"What are you going to do?" B taunted. "Go to the cops? There isn't anything you can do. You're not in the gang anymore."

"I may not be. But I do know your secrets. Do you think they'll put me in jail after I tell them about that guy, the night I got involved? I can take them to his body, and do you think they're going to believe anything you have to say after I spill my guts? I know who your suppliers are, I know who owes you money, and I know how to hide a body if I need to. I'm rich. I can make all the guys who owe you money disappear, I can make this whole gang disappear. Don't test me, B. If there is one thing you did right, it was to teach me how to fight. Don't have to make me put it to use. You will lose." I gritted my teeth, staring him down.

"I have an idea that might get them to back off us." Xav spoke up.

"I'd like to hear this one," I replied, turning to look at him.

"Before you say anything, listen to the whole idea. Got it?"

"You got two minutes to explain." I snapped.

"Okay, well, I was thinking that we stage a setup." He started by saying. Everyone was looking at him, but he was only paying attention to me. I urged him to continue. "Novak knows our gang, you and me. So, we send a message to the Boars telling them we'll only turn her over if N, since he's the head, and the head of the Boars meet alone, with Sam."

"Are you insane?!" I asked him.

"I'm not done. Okay, so when they both meet, we rig the place up to trap him and kidnap him. The only way he gets to be released, is if he signs a statement promising to leave your family alone forever and Novak surrenders to us, so I can deal with him."

"They're not going to agree to that," B replied. "They know it'll be a trap."

"Do you have a better idea?" Xav fired back.

"I don't care about this. It has nothing to do with me." B replied.

"I'm gonna," I replied walking over to him. Xav reached out to stop me.

"It's not worth it."

"He is perfectly fine with the idea of me sending Sam to the sharks. I will be signing her death certificate."

"It's not the first time you arranged for someone to die," B taunted.

This time Xav didn't hold me back as I walked over to him and punched him. "When this is over, you're out of this gang," I snarled.

"You don't have control in this gang, you're not a member anymore." B continued to taunt me.

"I will be though." Everyone turned to look at Xavier. "And since I'll be the new leader, what I say will go. You'll come to realize that I'm not at lenient as N."

I looked over at B. "What, you have nothing to say now?" I taunted.

"So, are we doing this plan or not? If so, we have to send word and to start planning." Xav said.

"Do you really think it's going to be that easy? This is the Boars gang we're talking about here." I replied.

"In my defense, they have stayed out of our way and we have stayed out of their way. Until now." N replied.

"You're going to start a war between us!" B yelled.

"That is the girl I love and my kid they are threatening!" I yelled back. "You would protect the people you love at all costs too!"

"This is a suicide mission!" He replied.

"Only if you fuck it up!" I retorted.

"Which he won't, because he won't like the consequences." Xav spoke up and said.

"Well, we should consult Sam to make sure she's okay with the plan." I replied.

"Would anyone be okay with possibly walking to their death?" N asked quietly.

"We don't really have a choice. Now do we? You took that choice away when you let Novak join and learn about my family."

"I didn't mean for that to happen. I didn't mean for your family to get threatened. I gave you the out, so you wouldn't have to worry about the gang life with a family. Not everyone has what you have now. You're the only one in this gang with a plan for his future, a missus and a kid on the way. The rest of us didn't get that life. That's why you got the out. I'm not heartless."

And that's when I made the realization, that not everyone belongs in a gang. N included.
