Cam got out of Kim’s parents car and waved bye to them after getting her stuff out of their trunk, “Thank you guys again.”. Cam mom couldn’t pick her up since she was at work and so was her dad—but her dad would be out of the choice anyways.

“No problem, Cameron.”, Kim’s dad said.

Kim looked out the window, “I’ll see you tomorrow, right?”.

“Yeah.”, she said. “But I don’t know when cause I might still be dead asleep from that long ride home.”.

“Okay.”, she said, giving Cam a hug threw the window. “I love you.”.

“Love you to, Kim. Night.”, she said and they drove away. Cam tossed her bag over her shoulder and grabbed her suit case, walking over to the stair case and up the stairs.

Cam knew the house door was unlocked and Ethan would be home and it’s only eleven, he would be awake. She went inside and ran her fingers threw her hair. She saw the dinning room lights on and her eyebrows came together. She walked over to the dinning and when she walked in, she was surprised to see her dad at the table.

She saw her mom also there and she grow more confused, “Mom? What are you doing here? I thought you would be at work?”.

“Well your father stopped by to talk to me.”, she said.

Here it comes, Cam thought miserably. Even though how mad she is at her dad, she didn’t want to see her parents go threw a divorce. He’ll move on, start a new family, and forget all about her and Ethan. Her eye watered up and she couldn’t stop a tear from slipping out. She quickly whipped it away, “About?”, she asked, her voice cracking.

Her father got up from the chair and hugged her. She wrapped her arms around him tightly, scared to let go of him. “Why are you crying, princess?”.

She cried against his chest, “Cause your leaving. You and mom are going to get a divorce and I don’t want you to leave.”.

Her father kissed the top of her head, “I’m not leaving.”.

She stepped back and whipped her face, “Of course you are, you don’t love her anymore.”.

He gave her a small smile, “Of course I love her, Cameron. I have always loved your mother. What I said the other day when I said I didn’t love her like I use to, I lied. I love your mother to death, we’ve been together for almost twenty years.”.

Cam was more confused. She stopped crying and looked back and forth at her mother and father. “I don’t get it. Your not getting a divorce?”.

Her mother got up from the chair and stood next to her father, “No, we’re not. But we’re not back together just yet. Marriage and family counseling is going to happened.”.

            “But…but he cheated.”, she said.

“A mistake and a terrible selfish need.”, he said. “Your mother and I have been working so much and I’ve been feeling so lonely. I don’t love Lindsey, I never have. She was just filling a need I thought I need so badly. I made the biggest mistake in my life and I really don’t expect you both to ever forgive, but I would love if you guys would try.”.

New tears slid down her face—he’s right, what he did was unforgivable, but Cam was going to try. He was right—both her parents have been working so hard, never seeing each other or her and Ethan, but cheating wasn’t the right choice to do. But she does remember when they didn’t work so hard and she saw the love they shared. Her dad let her mom be the independent women she is and her mom let him have his freedom like hanging out with his friends.
