Cam couldn’t believe this. She only wanted to get home and she seeing her ex again was not part of her plan. Why is life so crue? All she wanted to do was get home, eat some ice cream, and fall asleep to a horror movie.
Romance movie was out of the question.
But not, she has to get scared by her ex.
She blasted the music in her ear, hoping to get rid of the memories they had before. She know she’s going to hear a mouth full when Kim wakes up to find her gone, but Cam just wanted to be in her own bed. Her parents were out on a business trip and her brother was at a friend house the whole weekend until they come back tomorrow afternoon.
She felt someone come up behind her and grabbed her upper arm, turning her around. She looked at the person if he was crazy, but realized it was Nat. She took a step back, putting space between them.
She took one of the ear buds out and put on an act like she didn’t care about him, “May I help you?”, she asked--more like hissing.
He chuckled, “Oh come on Cam, be nice.”,
“Sorry, do I know you?”, she asked, twirling the ear bud around her one finger. “If you need direction, I’m happy to help, but if you don’t, I would like to get home.”,
His amused look dropped, “So your going to pretend you don’t me now, huh?”, he asked.
Cam shrugged, “Sorry, don’t recall ever knowing you.”, she said. She was actually telling the truth. She doesn’t know this Nat and she doesn’t think she wants to.
“Cam come on, don’t act like this.”, he said and Cam gave him a confused look. They just looked at each other and the air got awkward. She doesn’t want this. Why did he have to come back? She doesn’t want him here. She was doing so much better without him and now, her chest hurts again and all she wants to do is crawl in bed and hide under the blankets.
Cam turned around, but he only ended up turning her back around. She was frustrated now, “What do you want with me?”, she asked. She doesn’t want to see his face or hear him. She pushed on his chest and he stepped back, “And it’s Cameron.”, she said, not wanting him to call her, her nickname. Only Kim and Chris can.
To her surprise, he chuckle, “Really? So now I can’t even call you what I started. You hated everyone calling you Cameron so I was the first to call you Cam.”,
“I don’t know what your talking about.”, she practically hissed and turned around.
“Okay, fine, just walk away. Whatever.”, he said and her hands balled up in a fist. Cam parents always told her she was the one to be defended towards herself and hates loosing the battle. He has way to much room to say she was the one walking away!
She turned around, “Jerk.”. That was all she could come up with. Cam was never the one to use harsh words like ‘fucker’ or ‘dickhead’. She hates that about herself. She can be a push over sometimes.
He didn’t speak to quickly so when she turned around, he did, “Wait, Cam. What are you doing out here this late anyways?”,
“Going home.”, she said, walking now.
“Well that’s still a mile away. Let us drive you home, you shouldn’t be out here this late.”, he said.
