A Love That Kills

320 9 5

We let it consume us

Until we have been devoured by

The lack of individuality

That always teetered precariously on the scale

Who are you

Amongst this shared identity

And the blurred lines

That keep getting fuzzier

We let it control us

And allow us to lose ourselves

While searching for the same thing,

Ridding ourselves of the past

We let it discard us

When the other breaks off

And the heart aches for all its ever known

And the empty spaces start to grow

We let it heal us

As we realize we are better off alone

Rather than humoring someone who steals pieces

Of the beautiful being that is yourself

We let it be forgotten

So that it may never kill us
