Sometimes you think you've met
Who you can call home
And they end up being
Just a rental
Or an overnight hotel,
Nothing with a sense of permanenceThe trickiest of situations is a rental,
You can fool yourself over time
Enough to believe this house will always
Belong to you
Because it feels finalPeople are like this too.
We think we are home
Until we know what home truly feels like,
And it isn't always with who we expect it to beFor me,
She felt like home
And I wanted her to be that for me,
But I was just renting out someone else's space
And she was doing the same with meShe wasn't home,
But it sure felt like she was.
