Sephine's POV
Sipping the champagne in my glass, I searched the crowd of people and stopped my gaze at Charles.
He is wearing a gray suit with navy printed waistcoat, a white shirt, and a black double monk shoes. This made him looked more mature than his true age. I really can't deny that he is truly a beauty among the handsome men out there. Sa paningin ko nga eh mas gwapo pa siya sa mga kuya ko.
No biased included, I promise. Hahaha
So.. what are we doing?
Charles? He's currently greeting prominent and influential guests and beside him was his mom and dad.
His friends? They were acting like the well-behaved and gentle but stern looking gentlemen they were supposed to be, of course, with polite smiles on their faces, unlike how they usually are. Kung kami kami lang, napaka-goofy nila eh at walang oras na hindi sila magtatawanan.
My cousins? Of course, as usual, they're so prim, proper, beautiful and so sophisticated that numerous gentlemen already went and started conversations with them. Tulad ko ay bago lang din nalaman ng mga tao na close pala ng mga Falcon cousins sina Charles. Well, I guess the boys' parents already knew that their children were close friends with the Falcon cousins with all the hugging and warm and light conversations between them.
Me? I'm still wearing the dress I wore earlier when I surprised Charles and was just sitting at our designated table while watching the people around me.
It's Charles' Birthday party.
Napagplanuhan na naming mag-celebrate lang sa hotel nila Ed. Videoke, games and a lavish dinner, 'yan ang plano... pero biglang nag-inform ang papa ni Charles na may 'simpleng' dinner celebration na mangyayari sa Begley Estate for the sake of formality and respect for the Family business and their friends. Charles told me that he never really like social parties but he didn't have a choice this time so we were invited in the process. And here we are now.
Hindi ko naman siya masisisi. Ganito talaga kapag part ka ng isang elite family. If I'm not wrong.. This isn't just a simple birthday party for Charles, it's also a very good opportunity to look for new and possible investors that could support the Begley Company.
This is an outdoor party, and everything from the lighting to the table arrangement is perfectly arranged to look like the perfect garden ever. The party screams grand and beautiful. This made all of the mature people admire the Begley Family's wealth, and the younger generation jealous. After all, not all of them can have a birthday party as grand as this. Nakakatuwa nga at nakaka-amaze, sabi ng papa ni Charles na ngayon niya lang in-arrange ang lahat ng 'to.
It's unbelievable, but I also admire him at the same time. Hindi nga dapat talaga minamaliit ang kakayahan ni Kyros Begley, the man who revived his family's business from the very bottom of the ranks up to becoming one of the most powerful companies now. Kyros Begley which is Charles' dad.
Nang tumingin si Charles sa direksyon ko ay napangiti siya kaagad kaya naman ngumiti nalang din ako pero agad ding nawala ang ngiti ko nang may pamilyang lumapit sa pamilya nila Charles.
Mukha namang nagulat si Charles pero agad na ibinalik ang indifferent, cold and poker look niya kaya naman natawa na ako. Uminom nalang ako ng champagne nang makita kong pinakilala sila sa isa't isa nung babaeng mukhang kasing edad lang namin ng parents nung babae. When I saw her blush, I stopped abruptly, sighed and immediately took out my phone and kept myself busy.
Of course, the Begley Family isn't the only one benefiting from this party, the guests too. Charles Anthony Begley, the only heir to the Begley Company, known as a young genius and is also very good looking. This very promising bachelor... is a very good catch. So.. things that happened earlier - family's introducing their young missus to the Begley Family.. will probably happen many more times.
It's inevitable.
Lumipas na ang isang oras at napagod na ako sa pagkukulikot sa phone ko.
Huminga na ako ng malalim saka tinignan ang mga tao.
"Seph? Can you accompany me to the powder room?" tinignan ko naman si Venus nang tawagin niya ako
"Okay," sagot ko saka ko tinago ang phone ko't tumayo na saka sumunod sakanya
After ng ilang halls at doorways ay nakarating na kami sa powder room pero nagtaka ako dahil hindi naman mukhang powder room 'to, mukhang.. bedroom.
A very spacious bedroom.
"Uhh. What? Bakit tayo nandito, Venus?" tanong ko pero agad na siyang natawa saka ako pinat sa balikat ko
"Charles asked me to bring you here. Sabi niya he can't stand meeting young misses, so he wants to recuperate by looking at you. Shameless but sweet at the same time" sagot niya kaya naman nagulat ako
Oh my god. Did he really?! But why in his room out of all the numbers of rooms in their mansion!
Nang biglang bumukas ang pinto ay parang matanggal ang puso ko sa kaba--- Ken!
"Ano ba? Ba't bigla bigla ka lang pumapasok, Ken? Grabe, ang puso ko. Malapit nang huminto" sabi ko dahilan kung bakit siya natawa
"Comfort or ease him, okay? He really isn't the type to attend parties. He can't handle it. He'll feel dizzy and uncomfortable" sagot niya kaya naman natahimik na ako dahilan kung bakit siya napangiti at hinila na si Venus
"He'll be coming here soon so take your time and look around first" dagdag niya kaya naman bumugtong hininga na ako saka tumango
"Do I even have a choice?" tanong ko kaya naman umiling silang dalawa
"NOPE" sabay nilang sagot at lumabas na closing the door and leaving me all alone in Charles' bedroom
Huminga nalang ako ng malalim saka binaba ang pouch ko sa study table niya't tumungo sa shelves. Habang inuurong ko ang scope of view ko ay napatingin ako sa mga pictures na nakadisplay dito.
There were a total of 3 pictures in frames in total.
One is a young, handsome and flashy looking Charles holding a soccer ball and wearing his soccer uniform. It seems like he's not older than ten here.
Two is a group of good looking teenage boys playing in an arcade.
Napangiti ako kaagad. There's no need to guess who they were. It's Charles together with Ed, Ken, Rod and Rico. Grabe, kung gaano sila kagwapo noon, mas lumalo pa ngayon. It's unbelievable.
Three is a smiling family picture. Charles' mom, dad and sister.
Wait... He has a sister?
