"Sweat, dripping down your neck. Hmm" I sang and hummed.
"Hey Alice, your makeup is making your green eyes pop today! You look gorgeous in your floral sundress and Vans! I just can't pull it off the way you can. I love your hair color though. I think I'll dye mine your shade of brown and grow it out too!" Sam exclaimed.
" Oh my god no way! Sam your way more gorgeous, with your luscious long blonde waves! You have blue eyes, you're a blonde girl with blue eyes and a million dollar smile. I think you take the cake! But hey we do match with our floral sundresses though! The only difference is yours is white and mine is black. So do you have a date with Kyle tonight?" I responded.
"Why yes, yes I do."
"So is this actually going to be a relationship or just a good fuck buddy?" I asked with a giggle.
"I should say a wonderful relationship, but you're my best friend and I don't want to lie. He will probably be a fuck buddy and that is all. What about you? You were seeing Jason for a while are yall still a thing?" Sam asked.
"No we broke up over the weekend. He wanted more then I did. But hey I've got to get to my parents I promised I'd have dinner with them tonight. I'll see you later, have fun with Kyle!" I exclaimed while waving and exiting.
Of course the one day I wear a dress it has to start fucking raining. Unfortunately my parents' house seems so far away from the coffee shop I'm a regular at with Sam.
"Oh my god, hi mama I've missed you so much!" I exclaimed as she embraced me tightly after opening the door.
"I've missed you too, you gorgeous little thing! Come in, come in dinner is almost ready!" My mother explained.
"Alice I was hoping you'd actually come it's so great to see you." My dad said with a sarcastic tone and a smile.
"Yes I'm so sorry again about having to cancel last time something came up. (Yeah something came up alright a ridiculously amazing fuck with Jason. Why did I dump him again?) So how has work been?" I asked.
"Oh yes I'm sure your event was just dire. Work is fine dinner smells amazing doesn't it?"
"Alice, honey it's time for dinner come on while it's hot!" My mom yelled from the kitchen.
My father and I made our way there. The smell of the spaghetti and meatballs filled the air.
"So I'm guessing Alisha isn't coming?" I asked while putting the Cesar salad on my plate.
"No you know your sister, she's always doing something." My mom said.
"Fine, is she going to hear shit about not being here I surely hope so."
"Oh Alice stop worrying about your sister and tell us how everything is going. We want to know it all!" My dad answered.
"Well I'm still in publishing. But now they gave me a blog to run as well which is a high honor at my work. My apartment is still a good size and clean. Sam is still my best friend. Oh and Tigger (my cat) is doing just fine."
"You know Alice to only be twenty-one with a fancy publishing job and a nice place of your own to live, you're quite successful. We are very proud! How about boys? I didn't hear you mention one of those." My mom pried.
" Yes thank you. I'm dating but nothing serious that's why I didn't mention it. What about Alisha? I haven't heard anything from her lately how is she? What is she up to?" I asked trying to change the subject.
"Well Alisha is a marketing manager now. It too makes her good money. She's still living in the heart of Atlanta in a cute apartment. She's dating a boy I think. I told her the other day she's twenty three it's time to think about settling down with a man. But she ignored me. I told her she needs to visit more. But she says it's a four hour drive and that's too much. Excuses, excuses." My mother explained.
"Yes actually my publishing company is about to open an Atlanta location. I might transfer there. That way I'll be close to Alisha and Sam is already moving there anyway." I answered.
"I had no idea you were even thinking about moving. You'd be far from us too then." My father said.
"I know, but I think it's the right move for me. I'll still visit. Thank you for dinner, I have some manuscripts to read so I should be getting home. I love yall, I'll see you later!" I said giving hugs and kisses to my parents.
"Drive safe, goodbye I love you!" My mom said
"Yes I love you, stay out of trouble!"
I finally made it out of there. I went and got in my black twenty eighteen Toyota Rav Four and headed home. When I got home I jumped in the shower and then headed for bed.
