Before we knew it, it was time to bring Cade home. It felt so good to have him home and just to be home. For the first month I really struggled to adjust to motherhood. But I finally started to catch on.
"Everything feels so perfect. I know you were angry at me leaving so close to your due date. But I was making sure I could be here now. There is nowhere else I'd rather be than with you two." Ace said.
"All of that doesn't even matter anymore. I'm just happy you're here now. I agree everything is great." I explained.
Next Alisha walked in.
"Hey, where is my precious nephew? I have a present for him." She asked.
"He's sleeping, if you wake him up I'll kill you." I said.
"Oh okay. Well how are you guys?" She asked.
"We are good. But the better question is how are you and Dawson doing?" I asked.
"We are thinking about separating. We just don't have the same views on life. He wants a baby right now. He isn't willing to wait or even talk about it. I at least want to wait a while. I'm still not sure I want to be a mother at all." She explained.
"No you guys can't separate, you're so cute together." I said.
"Did you not know his feelings about children before you got married?" Ace asked.
"I knew Dawson wanted kids. But I had no idea it was this intense and that I would be on a time limit. I'm not sure I can do this." She admitted.
"Well at the end of the day as long as you are happy that's all that matters to us. If you don't think Dawson is the man for you anymore then let him go." I said.
Next Cade started to cry.
"Oh Cade is up. I'll go grab him." Ace said.
"No I'll get him I've missed him anyway!" Alisha said. Next she headed to his room with a brand new stuffed animal to give him.
"I have a feeling Cade is going to be a very spoiled boy. Alisha is giving him another stuffed animal when he already has a ton." I said.
"He's our little munchkin, of course he will be spoiled, hell he is already." Ace admitted.
"That's very true." I said.
Next Alisha came into the kitchen holding Cade. I already had a bottle made. Without saying a word Alisha took it and started feeding him. An hour later Alisha left.
For the next few months we continued to adore Cade and everything that came with him. It amazes me how quickly time was going by. Cade was already six months old.
"I think we should give him his first taste of water." I said.
"I agree." Ace said.
We got into our bathing suits. I put Cade into jungle swimming trunks and a little swimmer's diaper. I then put him into a little floating seat made especially for him. He loved the water automatically.
"Welk he's definitely your son. He is loving the water." I said.
"Of course he does." Ace said.
"So how do you feel about going back to work on Monday?" I asked.
"I'm pretty nervous actually. I've been off for six months just being a husband and a dad. My father's biggest fear is that fatherhood has made me soft. What if it has? What if I can't do my job as well? I'll let my whole family down then. Not to mention I'll have to be away. I'll miss you both. How do you feel about me going back?" He explained and asked.
"I don't think you have any of that to worry about. Your father is just getting into your head. I'll really miss you honestly. It will be weird having Cade without you. We will miss you a ton." I said.
"I hope so. Have you heard from Alisha? How is she doing?" Ace asked.
"Well as of last week, she officially decided to leave Dawson. They are legally separated. He moved out of their house." I explained.
"Wow I didn't see that coming." He said.
"Me neither, I figured they would get through it. Dawson must have really wanted a baby." I said.
We enjoyed our last couple of days as a family before Ace had to leave. He was leaving for a month. Alisha decided to stay with me while Ace was gone.
"So how are you holding up?" I asked.
"What do you mean?" Alisha asked.
"How are you holding up with everything that's going on with Dawson? I know you're separated but do you think you can work it out?" I asked.
"Oh I'm doing great. I feel as if a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. No, I have no interest in fixing things with Dawson. I'm just looking forward to getting divorced. I've even moved on." She admitted.
"You've only been broken up for a week." I said.
"No, we've been separated since Cade was like a month old. I just was afraid you'd judge me so I didn't mention it." She said.
"Oh we who have you moved on with?"I asked.
"Don't get mad. But I'm dating Asher!" Alisha exclaimed.
"Like Ace's brother Asher?" I asked.
"Yes, we are so happy. He's so fun. I've basically been living with him. We have a wonderful time together. I like him a lot and he doesn't pressure me to do anything." She explained.
"Wow. I'm shocked. Congratulations." I said.
"Thank you!"she said.
After what felt like a year it was time for Ace to come home.
"I'm so happy to be home. I've missed you both so much!" Ace said hugging me tightly then taking Cade.
"Trust me we missed you too. We are glad you're home too." I said.
After an evening of welcoming Ace home it was time for bed.
"Hey I wanted to talk to you about something." Ace said.
"I do too actually." I said.
"Okay you go first." He said.
"My sister is dating your brother. She really likes him too." I said.
"Yes. Asher told me. I say we just let them figure out this cluster fuck." Ace said.
"Oh okay. What do you want to talk about?" I asked.
"So I've realized I absolutely love being a father. I think you're an amazing mother. I love Cade so much!" Ace said.
"Ahuh. Where are you going with this?" I asked.
"I think we should give Cade a sibling!" Ace exclaimed.
"You want to have another baby?" I asked.
"Yes!" He exclaimed.
"When do you want to start trying?"
"Right now!" Ace said.
"Cade is only seven months old. I don't think I'm ready for another baby. I don't think I want another baby anytime soon."I admitted.
"Well I want one now." Ace responded.
"Well I don't. You'll be gone most of the time anyway. I'll be the one stuck here with the kids. That isn't fair. So no,I don't want another baby." I said.
"You don't want another baby at all?" Ace asked.
"I'm not sure." I then aggressively turned over and went to sleep.
The next few days were awkward between us. I wasn't trying to hurt his feelings or make him mad. But I would be stuck with two kids by myself while he was gone for months at a time. That just doesn't seem fair.
We patched things up and agreed to not have a baby right now.
Things were great for the next few months.
One morning I woke up feeling terrible. I threw up repeatedly.
"Are you feeling okay?" Ace asked.
"No I think I have the flu or something." I said.
"Okay I'll take Cade for the day." He said.
"Thank you."
The next day the same shit happened. Then for the rest of the week it happened.
Alisha said she had news so she dropped by with Asher.
"So we have some news." Alisha said.
"What's your news?" I asked.
"We're engaged!" Alisha yelled.
Asher sat beside her with the biggest smile.
Before I could respond I felt the need to puke again so I ran to the bathroom.
"Wow, not the response I was expecting."Asher said.
"She's sick, that wasn't due to your news. Are you sure about this?" Ace asked.
I could hear their conversation from the bathroom.
Asher said it was what he wanted.
"Well let me see the ring." I said.
It was a huge diamond princess cut.
"Wow it's stunning. Congratulations" I said.
"Yes congratulations. "Ace followed.
We then had dinner with them to celebrate. The dinner came back for me unfortunately.
"Please let the doctor look at you. You've been feeling terrible for a week, I'm worried." Ace begged.
"Oh alright." I agreed.
The doctor came in and checked me over and ran some tests.
An hour later Matthew came in with Ace.
"So you're giving me good antibiotics for this shit right?" I asked.
"Well gorgeous, we are pregnant again! You don't have the flu. " Ace exclaimed.
"What? But we haven't been trying. I've been taking the pill." I said.
"Is it possible you may have skipped a pill Mrs.McCoy?" Matthew asked.
"No of course not. Oh shit yes. When Cade was sick. I didn't take the pill for like three days. He's only ten months old. Now we are diving in for a second one." I said.
"You're already twelve weeks along." Matthew said.
"It must just be meant to be." Ace said.
"You know what? I agree,I'm so excited for this baby. I hope it's a girl! I was just nervous about having two small children. I love Cade so much, I knew I wanted another one." I exclaimed.
"We will get through it. I'm so glad you're happy." Ace said. We then kissed and hugged tightly.
I then walked in Cade's bedroom and picked up.
"Well, it looks like you're going to be a big brother." I said.
Cade smiled.
"We will see about that." A familiar voice said from behind me.
