(Chapter.34) The Engagement Party

“Ace didn’t tell me, he told Asher and I overheard all about your sluttiness.So what happened and why?” Atlee pried.
“Okay fine, I kissed an ex of mine and then he attempted to rape me and Ace saved me from it. Then last night I slept with a guy I barely know. I didn’t plan it and I regret it. I’ve never had my doubts about Ace. My doubts, fears, and reservations are all about the lifestyle that I would be committing to. I guess I did those things because I was acting out.” I explained.
“That makes sense actually. I can’t imagine being normal and purposely going into our lifestyle all because you love someone. I don’t blame you. You do actually love my brother though right?” Atlee asked.
“Of course, I love him more than anything in the world. That’s why I’m about to give up my whole life as I know it to be with him.” I explained.
“Good, now let’s start planning this wedding!” She screamed.
For the next few hours we went through magazines and wrote down ideas of what we considered were ideas for a rustic wedding. Then Atlee left and Ace came back.
“So I need to tell you something.” I said.
“Alice I swear I can’t take anymore bad shit. I’m going to flip shit here in a second.” He said.
“No, no, Ace my parents are going to throw us a small engagement party this Saturday. The only people that will be there will be my parents and sister and your parents and siblings.So don’t freak out.” I explained.
“Oh that’s so nice of them. I thought it was going to be something bad.” Ace said.
We then ate a quick dinner and then headed for bed.
For the next week I was stuck in our room and Ace worked long hours. We didn’t spend much time together honestly. I’m not sure if that’s because he’s still mad at me or because he has a lot to do. 
Next the day was finally here. 
"So how are you feeling about the engagement party being tonight?" I asked.
"I'm excited and a little nervous. How about you?" Ace asked.
"Why are you nervous? I'm very nervous but maybe a little excited." I said.
"I'm nervous because I haven't really been around your dad and our families have never met. I know my family is a lot to handle and I want to make a good impression." Ace responded.
We next both took showers and prepared for the party. I decided to go with a short sleeve black floral dress that goes to the floor. Ace picked a gray button up shirt with black slacks. We look nice but not too fancy. 
Before I knew it we were on our way to my parents house. The car ride was silent, probably because the nerves had set in for both of us. We next arrived and he lead me to the door.
"Hi mom, it's nice to see you." I said then giving her a hug.
"Hi sweetie come in,come in. I'm so excited for your party. Your parents and siblings have already arrived Ace, they are a hoot." My mother explained. 
We then walked in and greeted everyone. We each mangled for a while then it was time for dinner. We sat down to a lobster ravioli with french bread. We all began eating when the worst thing that could've happened,did.
Kai and Sam entered the room and sat down at the table.
"Wow, what are y'all doing here?" I asked attempting to play nice.
"Oh you're my best friend of course I'd be here for your engagement party." Sam said with a smirk. 
"You've always been important to me. So I will support you in everything. That's why I'm here.Your mother was so kind to invite us." Kai said.
Ace and I made contact and I could see the rage in his eyes.
"I'm so sorry I must make a phone call, excuse me for one moment." Ace said getting up and exiting the room.
"That's our Ace, he's always working. Hopefully you'll be able to pull him away at least occasionally!" Ace's mom said with a slight giggle. 
"We raised him right. Ace knows his duties." Ace's dad chimed in.
"So, when did you know Ace was the guy you wanted to spend the rest of your life? How did you know that no other guy could be for you?" Kai asked attempting to pry." 
"Ace isn't like anyone I've met. He see's the good in me even when I don't. I've never felt the way I feel with and about him with anyone else. That's how I know." I explained. 
"We have a connection that is rare, our love is as well." Ace chimed in while sitting back down. 
"Have you ever doubted that oh I don't know maybe there is someone else out there for you. A man that will love you and treat you the way you deserve?" Ace asked.
"No ace is perfect for me. We connect well. He treats me amazingly." I responded. 
"Well that was a lovely and filling meal I'd say. Let's clean up now." My mother said while starting to clear the table.
"I'll help!" I said while jumping up to assist my mom.
"As will I. " Ace's mom joined.
"Thank you for all of the help. I must say, you've raised an amazing man. He is just wonderful,such a gentleman.  I couldn't be happier that Ace is the man marrying my Alice." My mother gushed.
"Oh thank you so much. Yes Ace is quite wonderful but so is Alice, she's truly a fine girl." Ace's mother responded. 
I said nothing, I just dried the dishes.
They continued talking and I couldn't help but wonder why my mother would invite Sam and Kai. 
"Ya'll might want to come out here, things have gotten wild!" Sam exclaimed.  
All three of us followed her outside to find Ace on top of Kai beating the shit out of him. 
"Ace, no get off of him!" I yelled. 
Kai got back up and then jumped Ace.
"What in the world is going on?" My mother asked in utter shock.
Kai's nose now had blood pouring from it.
"Both of you just stop!" I yelled.
Ace was then back on top of Kai. He was again beating him.
"Stop!" I yelled 
Kai then punched Ace so hard blood flew out of his mouth. Next Ace took his switchblade out. He then said "you really want to keep going motherfucker?" 
"Ace enough!" I yelled.
Next Asher came running outside and jerked Ace off of Kai and took the knife. He then started jumping Kai himself.
"Okay,okay boys, playtime is over. Cut it the fuck out." Atlee appeared and said. She then pulled Asher off of Kai. 
Next, Atlee tackled Sam and started hitting her.
"Ace, Kai come on inside let me get yall some ice." My mother said. Kai started to follow. Ace motioned to Asher and then followed my mother as well. 
Next Asher grabbed Atlee and dragged her inside.
"I don't know what just happened but it was inappropriate for an engagement party." Ace's mom said. We all then went inside. 
I found Ace leaning against the kitchen counter with an ice pack against his eye in one hand and a paper towel blotting blood from his lip with the other.
"What the hell happened?" I asked.
Before Ace could answer his father started to speak instead.
"Now, mr. and mrs. Noble I'd like to thank you both for your hospitality today. The food was just wonderful. I do apologize for my children's actions. But we will be leaving now. Let's go." His father explained. 
"I agree you two need to go." Ace said motioning to Atlee and Asher.
"Ace you as well, let's go." His father said.
"No." Ace said.
"Now Ace I've told you I don't want you with this girl. She is making you lose your damn mind. She isn't like us. Now you need to focus on your career. Leave this low life girl behind. I'll find you a new one to play with. I don't approve of her and the relationship will not continue. She's weak and she isn't even that pretty." His father explained in front of everyone.
"Excuse me? Now you will not speak about my daughter that way. You need to get the fuck out of my house right now,before I help you." My father yelled. 
"Dad, shut the fuck up. I run the company.  Without me it wouldn't be running and you know that. Alice is the love of my life. I will be with her regardless of what anyone thinks. If you can't get on board then don't come to our wedding. Now you need to leave." Ace yelled. His father said nothing. But his parents and siblings left.
"Well I guess it's just us then. Hey Alice, want to makeout? " Kai asked.
"I will beat the fuck out of you again." Ace said while bucking up to Kai.
"Now with a comment like that, it explains where all of this foolishness came from. Kai,Sam you both need to get going. I don't appreciate the way you both acted." My mother said.They both listened and left.
"I'm so sorry things turned out this way. I let my anger get the best of me and I feel embarrassed." Ace explained.
"Ace I had no idea your father felt the way he does about Alice. It's quite upsetting, but it takes a man to defend his woman even against his family. I have a lot of respect for you after that. I'm also happy you're the man marrying our Alice." My father explained.
"Thank you so much sir, that means the world to me." Ace said.
"So is Asher single? He is hot as hell and fights pretty great." Alisha asked.
"He is actually, but he's wild. You don't want to get mixed up with him." Ace said.
"The fuck I don't.  What's his number?" Alisha asked.
"Okay well it is time for us to go. Thank you so much for the party, I love you both and we will see you later." I hugged them both and we left. 
We got back to our house and got in bed.
"So I have to ask, what the hell happened to make you that way tonight? You usually have it together." I asked.
"Kai kept making comments about you and how you should be with him and how he'd make you happier than I ever could in every way. It just set me off. I'm so sorry." He explained.
"I'm sorry Ace. That was uncalled for. But I love you." I said.
"I love you too. Now let's get some sleep." Ace answered.
