(Chapter.15) Kai Shrine

We arrived at the hospital to find it was bad. Kai apparently had been jumped. He had broken ribs, a broken foot, a broken eye socket and more.

"Thankfully Kai's injuries aren't life threatening." I said while handing Sam a coffee.

"I agree. But Alice this doesn't make any sense first Noah and now Kai? Neither one of them were into gang related things or anything bad. These are just two innocent men that have been jumped for no reason. They deserve justice.The police are launching an investigation of course. But Noah is still in a hospital bed and the cops have found nothing.I mean I don't even think either one of them know bad people.Kai is in so much pain. He will be out of work for months. He will be here for weeks.What the hell is happening to the people we care about?" Sam ranted and burst into tears. I hugged her tightly not knowing what to say. Nothing I could say would make this better. Sam was right they deserve justice.

"Hey I'm so sorry, my meeting ran longer than I thought and I didn't check my phone until after. How is your brother is he okay? I brought coffee." Ace asked running in.

"He's hurt pretty bad, but thank you for coming. I'm going to go check on him." Sam responded, then left.

"Thank you for being here, I know you don't really know Kai but I appreciate it. I know Sam does as well." I said then I wrapped my arms around his arm and laid my head on his shoulder.

"Kai? Oh right Kai Shrine is Sam's brother. Do they know who did it?" Ace asked.

"No but they are launching an investigation." I answered.

"Oh good hopefully they will find the person or people who did this horrible crime."

"I agree."

"I'm sorry this happened and it has delayed us telling anyone about our engagement." Ace said.

"Oh it's okay this is more important right now." I said.

"Yeah we should probably go home and get some sleep, it's been a long day." Ace suggested. I said nothing but I followed.

"Hello?" I said with my scratchy morning voice.

"Alice come to the hospital now, alone." Sam said and then hung up. I then jumped up and got dressed.

"Are we going back to the hospital?" Ace asked rolling over.

"I am Sam asked if she could talk to me for a few minutes. I'll call you. I love you." I said kissing him goodbye.

"Sam is Kai okay? What on earth was that call about?" I asked.

"Sit down,we need to talk. Kai is in the same state as last night. I think what happened to Noah and what happened to Kai are tied together.You're not going to like what I have to say. " Sam said.

"Okay how are they tied together?"

"It's Ace and his family.I'm not sure how he connects to Noah yet. But I told you that Kai said Ace and his family are dangerous. I'm sure you told him. Then my brother ends up severely beaten in the hospital. I don't think that's a coincidence. The police are going to bring Ace in for questioning.Alice I know you don't want to hear all of this because you like him a lot. But I wouldn't tell you about it if I didn't believe it. Alice Ace and his family are dangerous, very dangerous just look at poor Kai." Sam explained with a worried look.

"I let you finish because I know you're going through a lot. I get you think Ace and his family are dangerous because Kai said so. But you don't know Ace. Assuming things is wrong. I can't believe you are going to have him questioned. That is horrible. He even came here last night for support and brought you coffee. This is how you choose to repay him? Wow what a monster to bring you a fucking coffee when he finds out your brother is in the hospital.Do you hear yourself?" I asked rudely.

"I know it's easier to defend him because he's your boyfriend but I think you need to try to think more clearly. Alice he is responsible. If it isn't Ace it's his family or someone who is employed by them. I can't believe you aren't realizing the amount of danger you are in. You need to break up with him. Don't be stupid about this. Ace won't be able to give you the white picket fence and perfect relationship you want anyway. You know this was nothing but a fling."

"Sam what the fuck do you know? You continue to have fuck buddies or one night stands. You'll never find real love because you just fuck your way through life. Being an easy whore won't find you love either. You don't know anything about Ace or his family. Kai made some dumb ass assumptions and you believed him. You said Kai had nothing to back it up with. But he gets hurt and it's automatically Ace or his family right? Are you jealous because I'm in a relationship that makes me happy finally? I know you've never been in one but as my best friend it's your job to love and support me. Being a hateful bitch isn't a good look on you. You know I love Kai like he is my brother. I've always loved you as a sister. But making criminal allegations to cops about someone you know nothing about is ridiculous and appalling. You are putting Ace and his family through hell for no reason. How are you going to tell me I need to break up with him? I've never said a fucking word about you or all of your man whores." I yelled.

"I'm not jealous of anything. My thoughts behind this are if he's crazy enough to beat two men to a pulp then what the fuck is he going to do to you? You are innocent. Yes you, you don't know the bad in the world. I try to help you because of that. You are just too trusting. I don't want anything to happen to you okay? Now break up with him."Sam yelled.

"I'm not breaking up with anyone. Oh by the way we are fucking engaged. Tell Kai I'll be back to see him later." I yelled flashing my ring and walking away.

"You're engaged to this mother fucker? Alice please no." Sam yelled as I walked away.

"What's wrong gorgeous?" Ace asked hugging me tightly.

"I have something to tell you." I said

"What is it?"

"Sam is making assumptions and told the police that you and your family are behind what happened to Kai and probably Noah as well. She said they are going to be taking you and your siblings in for questioning. I'm so sorry. We got into a huge fight about it. I know it isn't fair to involve you or your family. By the way she knows we are engaged. I yelled it while leaving. So we can tell people now." It's fine Alice, but give me a moment. I'd like to go call my siblings and let them know what's going on."

"Of course." I said. He then left.
