Chapter 13: Family Matters

[SILVER]

I parked my car at the garage of the Demonteverde Mansion. It's Sunday, Mom requires the family to dine together, it's tradition. I stepped out of the car, fixed my tie and buttoned my Tom Ford's gray stripe with Jacquard stitching suits, then I went inside the house.

I needed to talk to Dad, so I went straight to the library. He's probably reading his books or signing documents. I was about to knock on the door, but it was open, so I let myself in. Nagulat pa ako ng makita ko silang lahat. Mom is sitting beside Dad looking at something sa laptop, while kuya Bronze reading his favorite nude magazine as always, and finally, my big sister Marigold was lounging while comfortably sitting on the chaise lounge, from the looks of it she's playing piano tiles or whatever it is she does on her iPod.

I just smiled as they both looked in my direction. And as expected, galit na galit na tumayo si Bronze at sinugod ako ng suntok. I saw it coming, before his right fist landed on my face, I just stepped aside, and his right fist landed on-air almost losing his balance. I quickly held him by his shoulder to prevent him from falling down on the floor. Then after getting back on his feet, he again tried to punch me, only this time I grabbed his fist and quickly twisted it behind his back and then restrained him by wrapping my arm around his neck, slightly choking him by pulling my arms tighter against his throat. A controlled headlock will be enough to put my older brother to behave accordingly.

"Easy now, big brother, you wouldn't want to spend days in the hospital with a broken neck." Lalo ko pang hinigpitan ang sakal ko sa kanya.

"Silver stopped that at once!" Dad scolded me.

"None unless Bronze here, behaves himself, Dad". I replied.

"For heaven's sake Silver, please, hindi na makahinga ang kuya mo." My mother requested along with worried face.

"Hi Mom! Where is Carl?" I asked while looking around, I wouldn't want my son to see me strangling his favorite uncle. Carl takes after his Nanay Vriella. A very compassionate person. He will be displeased seeing me like this.

"He and Matty are in his room reading Story Guides and books about raising horses, it seems like your son is very fond of them. I think we have our selves a promising equestrian there." My father proudly says.

"Silver son, your father and I were thinking of going to our farm in Batangas, we have this idea of expanding our lot to have our own equestrian park for our grandchildren." Mom was very excited about their plans.

"Ah, Dad, Mon, little brother. Aren't you forgetting something?" Pagpapaalala sa amin ni Ate Marigold. Doon lang muli bumalik ang atensyon naming tatlo sa kapatid kong hindi makapagsalita dahil sakal-sakal ko pa rin.

"Santisima! Silver bitawan mo na ang Kuya mo." Gulat na gulat at nagi-guilty na sabi ng aking ina. 

"But he started it, Mom". Depensa at sumbong kong sabi, habang lalong dinidiinan ang sakal kay Bronze.

I saw Marigold stand and walked towards me, observing me, and then looked me in the eye.

"Oh my goodness, Mom, Dad, the Diabolical Silver is back. The son of Lucifer rises back from the dead." She looks and sounds astonished.

"Huh! Bronze, you're in deep shit now. That's the kind of Devil you wouldn't wanna poke." Pang aasar ni Marigold kay Bronze na pilit kumakawala sa akin pero lalo ko lang hinihigpitan ang sakal ko sa kanya.
