"Evan? What's wrong?"

Evan looked to his mother. Of course he was almost in tears. He and his mom hardly talked that week. And here he was, going to take what little time they had to tell her something that heavy. He sat there, opposite side of the table to avoid his mom physically. Who knew what she was going to do.

"I... Mom I've been wanting to tell you..."

She had that look on her face. The look that he knew too well. She had that look on her face when he was about to confess to breaking the neighbors window with a ball when he was six. That look when he told her about his bike being stolen at the park... And soon his phone at the library. It was a look of preparation. For the worst. He could see the wheels turning in her head, trying to figure out what Evan was going to say before he even said it.

"I'm... Bisexual-"

It was out. Like vomit. He had said it. His whole body unprepared for the response he was going to get. He was ready for shock.. maybe yelling. But what he got was;

"How long have you known?"

...:*:.:*:.:*:.:*:.:*:.:*:.:*:.:*:...
"WHAT!?"

Evan cringed. His hands instinctively raising towards his head so he could cover his ears. He mentally had to force them back down. He didn't want to look weak. Not in front of Connor.

"You're telling me that the entire school thinks we're dating!? And you didn't deny it!?" Evan could feel fear run through him as Connor growled the last words. At this point Evan was seated on his (hospital) bed and Connor was hovering over him. Shouting at him.

Evan knew it was a bad idea to come. He had no idea why he thought to come, but he did. He went all the way to the bus, taken it to the hospital. He had told Connor. Even when in his absolute embarrassment.

"I tried Connor. But the more I try to deny it, the more people are convinced. That's why I'm telling you! How do I stop this?" Evan's voice was raised. He knew it was dangerous to raise his voice at Connor. He didn't want to yell, but he didn't want this any more than Connor did. And if anyone could put an end to it... It was him.

Connor on the other hand was a little shocked. He knew Evan through emails. But in real life, Evan was just a quiet loser. Someone who was never heard by anyone else. The kid who fell out of a tree and lay there for ten minutes... Only to come to realize no one even noticed he was gone.

That was Evan.

"I... I just need a minute..." Connor said quietly, his anger fading as he sat next to Evan.

"What?"

Connor leaned forward, his hands resting under his chin. "It's a lot to take in... Please leave."

Evan could see on Connor's face that his wheels were turning. Something was going on inside his head.

He looks tired... Evan shook his head, knowing that Connor most likely was tired. He had tried to kill himself not even a week previous.

"I'm... I'm sorry..." Evan looked Connor over. Maybe it was a bad time. An awful time. But something had Evan uneasy about the situation.

Connor was actually being gentle. A little too gentle. Had this been anyone else, Connor would have shoved him but Connor was patient.

He stood to his feet, no bothering to look at Connor, his hands gripping the bottom of his polo shirt. That damned polo shirt...

As he went for the door, he could hear Connor move. "Wait... Evan. Can I? ... Can you do something for me?"

Evan hummed, pausing to look at Connor.

-A Few Moments Later-

(So I'd like to point out for a moment, that this whole "Connor" situation is based off how I know the hospital in my area is like. Every hospital is different. Please don't @ me being like "this isn't how it works-".)

"I'm sorry sir, but we can't allow him to leave unless with family. He's still under our watch," the nurse explained, leaning over the table to talk to Evan. Her eyes trailed to Connor. Making Evan realize just how much taller Connor was than him.

It wasn't until he felt a shove in the middle of his back that he clued in. "Oh, uhm. I'm his boyfriend. We're just going to get him some clothes, then he'll be back in like, two hours."

Evan lit up a bright red as he said those words. But no where near as red as he turned when Connor decided to move in a little closer to him, a hand slipping around him from behind and resting on his hip. He's just trying to sell the act, Evan.

His heart wasn't too convinced.

But the nurse seemed to buy it. She apologized, asking for Evan's name as she wrote it down, gesturing for Connor to reach a hand forward. As he did (reluctantly) she clipped a bracelet on, informing them that Connor had two hours. No more.

They thanked her and as they left, Evan could feel Connor take his hand. As soon as they left the hospital, Connor let go of Evan's hand and looked at his own.

"You nervous most of the time?" He asked, wiping it on his shirt. Evan laughed nervously, clearing his throat. He still had to process what just happened. Evan lied to the nurse about their relationship, Connor totally sold it and here they were. On their way to get Connor some food because hospital food was 'secretly jail food' as Connor put it.

"I can't believe we just did that..." Evan said, cluing into where they were and how they got there. Connor looked to him, and once more their eyes met. Connor searching Evan's face as Evan looked like he just robbed the local bank.

And then the totally unexpected happened.

Connor Murphy laughed.
