Tyranny reigns supreme-
Oppression,
Cruelty,
Control.
Over people
Who "don't know any better."
Who "don't know what they need."
Who "can't govern themselves."

Oppression,
Cruelty,
Control.
Do they fall on those around you?
Are you the one imposing tyranny?
Maybe you are
The tyrant to yourself.

With pretty words,
And "good" intentions,
With beautiful meanings
That should govern dissension,
You are forcing yourself
Into boxes-
Boxes with clear cut labels.
Forcing yourself
Into a mould:
So cruel,
So restrictive,
So uncomfortable,
So stifling.
Bound to an idea
Of what is "supposed to be"
Of who you're "supposed to be".
An idea of perfection
That the world couldn't possibly discard-
Something more than just you,
Someone who is not you.
Throwing your self away,
Trading your thoughts and ways,
Electing a tyrant of thoughts to reign.

Building a box
That you'll live in,
Safe and sound.
Rest assured,
It'll take you deep into the ground.

Wake up!

Fight back!

Against yourself-
These ideas of "perfection".
You are not a tyrant;
To oppress,
Cruelly,
Not on yourself.
Not anyone else.

Wake up!
You are here,
At a level
Higher than you think.
The same level
As I am,
As we all are.
We are not to be oppressed.
We are not to be conformed;
To lose sleep over ideas of perfection,
Or landscape bodies
And rewrite thoughts.

We are here to live our lives
The way we want.
Not any way anyone else may want.

So live
And breathe,
And move.
Freely
Always
Towards life
And thrive.
