But suppose duty fails.
What then?We've lived our lives,
For just ourselves
In ignorance
Of everything.We looked at the trees
Oh so pretty,
Oh so many.
And we cut away.
Cut away.
Cut away.We stole joys
And harboured egos.
We grew what we wanted
At any cost
No matter the loss.
We lost.
We lost.
We lost.But we're still losing.
Even if it's not the end,
We're still losing.
But that can change.The future
Is not wrapped in certainty.
We are not strung
In iron binds,
Doomed to die
By the lives we've lived
The things we've disgraced.If only we would see
That duty.
That feeling
Of being bound to preserve.
Not duty towards
Anything else.
But to each other,
To the planet.
To ourselves.Bind your duty
To yourself.
A real duty.
Not superficial
Or selfish.
But one that will live.
Live on
For posterity
And beyond.~A
