.
Can you hear that?
Silence so thick,
It speaks.
But do you understand?
When the conversation stops,
But doesn't really.
Continued in the caressing of stares.
Eyes dancing between each other.
Focusing and unfocusing.
Breath slowly falling in pace.
Silence still speaks.
When her eyes glow
As you walk in the door,
Silent and tired,
Saying nothing.
Not even a hello.
But silence speaks.
When they peel open that envelope
And read it slowly.
Carefully.
Each and every word,
And then when its over
Their breath drops,
Silence fills the air.
Silence blots out the thoughts.
Focus shifts.
Silence screams.
When I look at you,
Holding back tears
And you say nothing.
But you hold my hand
And you keep it gripped.
Not too tight.
But not lose.
Not binding,
But you wouldn't let me fall.
Silence comforts.
When it's pitch dark
In the middle of the night
And your thoughts have carried you,
Back to places you never wanted to be
And silence seems to be overpowered-
By deep sobs
And heavy breathing.
But then it ebbs,
Silence returns.
Your heart calms
And peace it leads.
