His Fault

Taehyung's POV.

Sitting on top of the palace wall, face resting in his hands while leaning forwards. His head was filled with thoughts swirling around, and was the reason to why he wasn't asleep in this early hour. Taehyung's mind was somewhere completely elsewhere, pondering over the things that had gone wrong for the past few days. He knew what he did to y/n that afternoon had been beyond foolish, he had come to realise that, but he had only followed what Jungkook had told him to do. Even though it had felt very wrong, considering him remembering that y/n had told him that doing such things was very inappropriate and not acceptable.

And still he did it

what an idiot.

As he sat there blaming himself, the before so colourful sky suddenly turned grey. Dark threatening clouds appeared out of nowhere, and a muffled sound of thunder was heard. Raising his head, Taehyung looked forwards to far beyond over the trees, noticing that the clouds seemed to be somehow surrounding a certain area of the forest.

Quick footsteps coming from behind him, caused Taehyung to turn around from his spot and saw a group of guards running towards the gate that was close to where he was. Right after them, another man came running. Immediately recognizing the tall figure as his royal counselor and good friend Namjoon, Taehyung cupped his hands over his mouth and shouted

"Namjoon hyung!"

Both the guards and Namjoon froze as soon as they heard his voice. At first they were all looking confused around them to see where the voice was coming from, but Namjoon soon spotted him up on the tall wall and immediately bowed. The others followed his example, then Namjoon asked as he looked up to where he was sitting.

"Your majesty! If you don't mind me asking, why are you awake at this early hour?"

Innocently shrugging his shoulders as he didn't really feel like telling him the true reason to why he was out here, at least not when the guards was present. Taehyung instead responded

"Just had a bit of trouble sleeping that's all, but hey what's going on, where are you guys going?" 

Seeming like he swallowed his white lie or at least it looked like he did, Namjoon's eyes flicked up towards the grey sky and then back to Taehyung.

"A thunderbird was seen for some minutes ago your majesty, it appears that it must be somewhere on the east side of the island, not too far away from here." something in Namjoon's voice indicated on excitement.

A thunderbird? Flashbacks suddenly flashed before Taehyung's eyes as he gazed up towards the sky, blurry pictures of himself as a child and a giant bird...and of someone else...? Memories swishing past his mind as shadows from the past, only giving him glimpses of a time that once happened. However, the bird, he had meet it before, that he was sure of.

"He's back..." Taehyung said inaudibly, as it was almost like a whisper. Turning to Namjoon again he said in more of a serious tone "Then there's no time to lose, off you go."

His answer had not been just a reply, but an order. The kingdom had not seen a thunderbird for years, and when finally one was seen on the island, they had to act fast.

"Yes your majesty." Namjoon said and once again bowing his head to him, before facing the guards that had been standing still during their conversation. "Gentlemen, spread in pairs and search the whole east area immediately. We have a bird to find!"

And with that, the guards along with Namjoon ran out of the gate and disappeared into the wilderness and out of Taehyung's eyesight.

If the thunderbird was really out there, he wanted to see it. The blurry memories of the majestic bird kept repeating in his head, making him more and more curious. He wanted answers and perhaps the bird was part of the answer of the missing puzzle piece in his mind.
