Hayley was sitting nervously waiting for Tay to arrive. She felt like a teenager again. Sneaking around her parents backs hiding the fact that she was gay. Except this time if she got caught there would be greater consequences than loosing her parents respect.
When Tay walked through the door, Hayley's breath hitched. She was beautiful.
"You look amazing." She said.
Tay smiled and blushed. She was so cute. "Thank you. So do you."
They both ordered their coffee and then sat down and eased into comfortable conversation.
"You don't know the ramones?! They're punk rock legends!"
Tay just shrugged. "I mean, I'm sure I've heard a song by them before I just don't know them all that well."
Hayley sighed. "Way to make me feel old."
The brown eyed girl laughed at this. "You're only five years older. That's nothing. My friends parents are 17 years apart."
Hayley smiled. "Age is just a number."
Tay returned her smile. "Age is just a number."
They both starred at each other. This felt right to both of them, but they didn't know how to vocalize it. Hayley reached over and took Tays hand.
"I'd really like to do this again."
Tay did too, but she still wasn't ready for this day to end. She pulled on their interlocking hands.
"Come on."
Hayley raised an eyebrow. "Come on, where?"
Tay didn't answer and just pulled Hayley up from her seat. They held hands until they remembered who they were about a block from the coffee shop. They let go but continued walking very close to each other.
Tay lead Hayley to a patch of thick woods, but the redhead stopped before she followed her any further.
"You're not planning on murdering me, are you?"
Tay giggled. "No! Just trust me."
Hayley bit her lip but obeyed. She followed behind her though the forest until they came by a clearing with a lake.
"This place is amazing. How did you find it?"
Tay smiled. "I found it freshman year. I got blamed for a prank my friend pulled and cops started chasing me. I ran into the woods, lost them, and ended up here. It's a good place to hide from the world."
"And why do you hide from the world?"
Tay laughed. "Mostly because the world isn't to fond if weed."
That earned her a playful shove from Hayley.
"Better not do that at school."
Tay shook her head. "Why would I need to? Schools nice. I have my friends, free food, and a very gorgeous English teacher that I get to stare at for a whole hour."
Hayley blushed. She hadn't done that in a long time. She looked up at Tay. She was standing closer than she remembered. She looked down at her lips and then back into her eyes.
"I want to kiss you." She said, and Tay leaned a little closer.
"Then kiss me."
So she did. She leaned in slowly and then before she knew it, she felt Tays lips on hers. It was a soft, tentative, kiss, just testing the waters, but it was amazing. They both decided it was the best kiss they had ever had.
Soon enough though, it ended and they were left looking into each others eyes.
"This is going to be hard." Hayley warned. Giving her one last chance to back out before there was no turning back without heartbreak.
"I know." was all Tay said before she kissed her again.
