Chapter Twenty Six

Tay bounced her leg up and down nervously. It was the 23rd and she was sitting in Hayley's living room waiting to exchange presents.

She was freaking out. Hayley and Jenna had both been acting really weird. They were always busy but they never told her with what.

Tay had brushed it off at first but it kept happening. She started to assume the worst. What if Hayley was cheating on her? What if Hayley was cheating on her with Jenna?

She took a deep breath and tried to clear the thought from her mind.

"Are you okay?" Hayley asked. She was worried about her. She had been distant since the last time they hung out.

Tay nodded but then stopped and sighed. "No." She said shaking her head. "No I'm not."

Hayley sat next to her and pulled her hand into hers. "What's wrong?"

Tay pulled her hand away and turned away from her girlfriend. She couldn't look at her. "I'd really like if you broke up with me before you fucked my best friend. Who has a girlfriend, by the way."

Hayley contorted her face in confusion. What? Had Jenna told Tay that?

"Tay I don't know what you're talking about."

Tay scoffed and stood up. "I'm not stupid Hayley. You've both been to busy to hang out with me. You both talk to each other and won't tell me what about. I know when I'm getting cheated on."

"Tay I-" Hayley tried to get a word in but she wouldn't hear it.

"No. I don't want to hear your excuses. God. Of course you were just using me. Why am I-"

"Taylor jardine will you shut up and listen to me?" Hayley said using her strong teaching voice, but Tay just shook her head and started to gather her things.

"I should go."

Hayley ran her fingers through her hair as she watched Tay gather her jacket and present she brought.

"Fine." Hayley said. "But before you go will you please take this?" She stretched out her hand that held Tays present. Tay bit her lip but accepted it before walking out the door.

Hayley laid on her couch and groaned. This was their first fight and it wasn't even over something real.

About an hour later Hayley finally found the strength to move when she heard her phone vibrate. It was Jenna.

"What's wrong with Tay? She just texted me 'fuck you' and won't answer me."

"Yeah. She thinks I'm cheating on her with you."

There was silence for a moment and then Jenna burst out laughing. "Are you serious? Why?"

Hayley smiled. "We've both been saying we're busy and talking to each other and not telling her what about."

Jenna sighed. "Well shit. Did you give her the present?"

"I gave it to her but she didn't open it."

"Don't worry. Once she does it'll all work out."

Hayley nodded. She really hoped that was the case.
