Emma's P.O.V.

"Merlin, that hurts." I said as I walked out of Proffesor Umbridge's classroom from my third detention with her that week. It was taking longer and longer for the message to fade away each time I had to use the blood quill. I had a terrible fear that 'I will not defend liars' would be permanatly etched into my hand soon.

I went to Hogsmeade with Seamus and made the mistake of pointing out something with my writing hand.

"Emma, what is that?" Seamus asked, grabbing my hand and reading the message out loud, "I will not defend liars?"

I sighed, "That, Seamus, would be the work of a blood quill."

"Blood quills? Why on earth are you writing with blood quills?"

"I'm not doing it by choice, Seamus. Proffesor Umbridge makes me use them in detention. It's taking longer for the message to fade every time I have detention with her."

"What did you do to get a detention?"

"I heard Proffesor Umbridge gave Harry detention for saying that Lord Voldemort's back -" Seamus flinched, "It's just a name, Seamus. Anyway, we were talking about it in the halls and Proffesor Umbridge came up and said she was going to give Harry more detentions, so I got pissed and told her she can't give students detention just because you don't believe what they're saying. I mean, it's not like he was saying anything bad about her or to her. So, she gave me detention for two weeks."

"Emma, this is a serious problem! Look at your hand! Doesn't that hurt? That's abuse! That's- that's- You need to tell Dumbledore."

"Umbridge has the ministry in her fist like a mallet, If Dumbledore makes her too angry, she could bring it down on him at any minute. We shouldn't give Dumbledore another thing to worry about."

"So she can just go around abusing students and the ministry is okay with that?!"

"Pretty much. Yeah. From here on out we need to be careful. Everybody does. We're playing a dangerous game here, whether you wanted to join or not, we're all involved. Watch where you step, what you say..."

"What are we going to do about it then? Like, if a war really is coming... How are we going to learn to defend ourselves?"

I smiled, "Harry's got a plan for that. Why do you think I wanted to go to Hogsmeade so badly? We're all meeting at the Hog's Head."

"The Hog's Head? Why not The Three Broomsticks?"

"Well, the Hog's Head.. nobody ever goes there. Everybody goes to The Three Broomsticks. This way, we're less likely to be overheard."

We walked to the Hog's Head and opened the door, Harry was there with a bunch of other students.

Seamus and I walked to over to where they were and sat down.

"Emma, you're here." he looked over at Seamus, "Seamus? I thought I was 'crazy' why are you here?"

"Seamus, has apologized, Harry. Well, to me anyway. Seamus?"

Seamuse sighed, "I'm really sorry, Harry. I just.. shouldn't believe everything that's written in the Daily Prophet."

"It's alright." Harry said.

Harry and Hermione were whispering back and fortth until Hermione spoke to us, "Well -- er -- hi.

"Well... erm... well, you know why you're here. Erm... well, Harry here had the idea -- I mean" -- Harry threw her a sharp look -- "I had the idea -- that it might be good if people who wanted to study Defense Against The Dark Arts -- and I mean, really study it, you know, not the rubbish that Umbridge is doing with us" -- (Hermione's voice became suddenly much stronger and more confident) -- "because nobody could call that Defence Against The Dark Arts"
