I used to fall asleep
with a smile on my face
after you drop me off
at my house with a lingering kiss.
I used to fall asleep
with a smile on my face
after we text late into the night
with shared secrets between our fingertips.
I used to fall asleep
with a smile on my face
after we FaceTimed
your voice soothing me to sleep.
Then there were a few times
when I used to fall asleep
with a smile on my face
after we said our goodnights
and we enter the dream land in each other's arms.
Now,
it's all different.
Now I fall asleep
with tears staining my face
with no goodnight
with only shadows
of old memories.
My last thoughts
before bed
are still of you
and my first thoughts
when I wake up
are still of you.
Do you still hold onto those memories?
Do you still think of me?
Do you still care about me?
Those unanswered questions
are echoes in my head
the last thoughts
I have before
crying myself
to sleep
every night.
Goodnight.
