I used to love to dream,
escape away from reality
and create my own world.
A world where it is fair,
with safety and
the feeling of belonging.
Where love exists
and where I can find it.
It was tangible,
always in reach.
Now my dreams
cannot match reality.
Reality is still unfair
and safety is not always a given,
and to find your own place
is still a search.
But I have you.
You cannot match my dreams.
You are my safety,
like a warm blanket.
And I know I belong with you;
like two puzzle pieces,
apart of a bigger picture.
My dreams supply your face,
but not the real thing.
The way your eyes crinkle at the corners
when you see me coming towards you.
The way your dimples emerge
when I laugh so hard that I snort.
My dreams supply your voice,
but not the real thing.
The many ways your voice pitches
from saying my name or
telling me about your day.
My dreams supply your warmth,
but not the real thing.
The way how you're always warm
not matter the temperature.
How your hand can enclose completely around
my tiny fingers.
The one thing my dreams can never supply,
is the extent of your heart.
How it is always full of beautiful and creative wonders.
How it is mine.
And mine is yours.
I used to love to escape,
but now my dreams are a reality.
With you.
