LISSA
The next time I awoke was surprisingly in the morning. I had suspected that I had gotten to much sleep and would wake up in the middle of the night restless. I internally shrugged. I tried to sit up but then was reminded where I was by a loud beeping. Nurses rushed into my small, room. I didn't know what I had done. Greg walked in and began to talk to me.
"You tripped the alarm. Your heart rate went up emensly just a second ago. May I ask if you were in a nightmare or extremely happy dream?" he looked curious and concerned.
"No, I didn't have any dreams." I said slightly bewildered but didn't portray it in my voice or facial expression. Greg wrote something down on his clipboard. I looked at his name tag. It read Dr. Horan. I realized that I didn't even know Niall's last name. I did now. If I had to call Greg I would say Dr. Horan instead.
"I don't know how to explain what just happened. You heart rate fluctuation wasn't natural. And as far as I know, not a good thing. I planned to let you free tomorrow, but I think I need to keep for another day to monitor your heart more closely. Did the girl that injured you also hit near your chest? Or have you ever been heard hard near the heart?" I was disappointed that I would be stuck here another day, but at least I wouldn't be entirely alone.
"Ok, Macy didn't hit near my heart, she did shove me to the ground, but i don't know if that qualifies. And if I was hit by the heart before I don't remember, I've kind of purposely blocked out all my past memories." I said stiffly.
"Hm. Shoving doesn't really qualify and blocking out your memories might help you but I advice you to not block them out. No matter what happened, you shouldn't try to forget yourself, because they are you. Sorry for the life lesson but I do think you need to realize that." I only nodded with emotionless eyes.
I was done opening up for... the rest of my life. I layed back in the bed and got my rarely used Galaxy s5. I hadn't wanted a phone but this phone companies manager kept badgering me for a contract and a date. I never took the latter. But as a compromise I got a phone plan.
I turned it on and immediately it started to buzz. I went to my inbox and saw tons of messages from all the boys, Madrid, the girls, and my dad. I deleted my dreadful father's one sided conversation again. Madrid had texted me an apology and had tried to call me and left several voicemails.
"Lissa I really want to hang out soon. Call me back."
"Are you coming to work? Please I want to talk to you I'm sorry if I came on to strong. David is a jerk I hope you know that."
"Why aren't you at work. We've been friends for awhile and I well, just call me back."
"See you at work Lissa, Maybe after work sometime we can hang out. Where are you?"
I didn't know what to make of his messages. I also saw that I got a call that I had missed from an unknown number. I decided I'd call it back. It rung twice and then to my surprise David answered with a hello.
"David? How do you have my number?" I asked.
"Contact information for the company. You didn't show up for work yesterday, is everything alright?"
"Oh and no I'm at a hospital a few hours away near some...family friends and i won't be out of the hospital for two more days."
"I'm sorry to hear that, take as much time as you need to recover. Have you thought about stepping up to being my assistant?" he sounded businesslike, but I couldn't be sure since I was clueless.
