"I won't let him get near you." - bughead

"Who's that?" Archie asked, completely confused as his head nudged to the gang that waltzed inside Riverdale High.

"Haven't you heard?" Kevin said, "Southside High has been shut down, which means all the serpents will be going here now."

Betty's eyes widened, remembering the serpent jacket that hung in her closet.

Archie felt his blood boil at Kevin's words as he pressed his blonde girlfriend tighter against him. "Arch— you're suffocating me." Betty choked out, barely receiving air.

Archie huffed. "Shut up." He demanded and continued to press her tighter against his muscles.

Archie has never treated Betty like a proper boyfriend should, but Betty was too afraid to break up with him. Only her best friend, Veronica, had seen Archie's abusive manners sometimes, but Betty had begged her not to tell anyone.

At that point the bell rang and Archie angrily got up from his seat, finally giving Betty space to breath. "That Serpent trash better not get close to me." He scoffed and waltzed away to his class.

Veronica rushed towards Betty who was still gasping for air. "Are you okay B?" She asked, stroking her back in comfort.

Betty nodded softly, standing up. The two friends walked to the corridors, only to find the gang of serpents standing there.

"Who's the raven haired?" Veronica said, a wide smirk across her face.

Betty turned to look at him, and in an instant her entire world stop.

It was him. Her summer fling. The boy she had fallen completely and utterly in love with. The one she can't tell anyone about. Jughead freaking Jones.

Even though she had already been dating Archie durning last summer, she had fallen for someone else. His charming smiles, his protective manners, his heavenly kisses, his rude love bites. Everything about him.

She remember the last day of that summer like it was yesterday. He had walked her home after they swam in Sweetwater River together. She had been cold and he had handed her his leather serpent jacket.

Once they got to her house, he gave her one long, senseless kiss before ushering her inside her house, his serpent jacket still around her shoulders.

She had hid it in her closet for the past months, sleeping with it every night. Feeling his scent around her.

And now he was here, right in front of her. Oblivious of the fact that she had a boyfriend.

So, when he turned around and met with her eyes, he couldn't help himself but smirk and smile at the same time.

He felt like he was in heaven, finally seeing her beautiful face and indecisive green eyes again. He slowly stepped over to her as Betty felt Veronica poke her finger into her side.

"He's coming our way." She muttered into Betty's ear, but Betty didn't take her eyes away from Jughead.

"Hey princess." Jughead said once he stood in front of the two friends, his eyes fixated on Betty. It was like Veronica didn't even exist.

"Hey.." Betty stammered nervously, their eyes melting together. He reached forward, taking her hand softly.

"L-let's go in there." Betty stuttered out, pulling the raven haired adonis into the blue and gold room, leaving Veronica startled in the hallway.

Betty slammed the door shut behind her before turning back to Jughead, who was smirking at her. "You don't know how happy I am to see you again." His charming words caused a blush to creep up onto Betty's cheeks.
