He didn't move. Of course he didn't.He was in bed, while the love of his life was ready to get married. Just not to him.
His phone beeped loudly, Jughead lazily picking it up and opening the message.
you gonna go?
It was a message from Toni, Jughead's heart dropping out of his chest. She was the only one who knew Betty invited him.
After Archie had proposed to her, Jughead had tried to ignore what had happened. He tried to deny it, to not think about it. Until the golden blonde had knocked on his door.
"Hey."
"Hey." His heart had been racing, his eyes almost poking out of his face.
"Haven't seen you in a while." A soft smile had come over her lips.
"Not after the.." He hadn't dared to finish his sentence.
"Proposal." She'd finished for him, her smile fading into a sad look. She had looked so guilty, he almost took her in his arms right there and then.
Then she had proceeded to push a small white envelope in his hand, before rising away.
probably not.
He could only imagine Toni's words in his head. She would tell him he was a coward, and he should go, tell her he still loved her.
But Jughead couldn't, he was afraid to be denied, afraid to ruin her happiness.
He still loved her, of course he did, he always had.
Gently he picked the white envelope from the nightstand, probing the letter out and reading over it once more.
Archie Andrews and Betty Cooper are happy to announce that they are getting married and they would love for you to be there!
In a way Jughead was mad, mad at Betty that she eventually chose Archie instead of him, mad at Archie that when he knew Jughead still loved her, he went after her anyway.
God, was he mad.
And suddenly, he only wanted one thing. Being at that wedding.
He needed closure, he needed this love-hate relationship with both of them to end.
He needed to see them commit to each other, to be happy. To leave him.—
It was outside, a beautiful venue, surrounded by trees and lights. Chairs were set up in a row, a beautiful chuppah at the end of the aisle.
People were already filling up the seats, familiar people. Too familiar.
Cheryl Blossom was sitting in the second row, next to Veronica Lodge.
Maybe Veronica did get over Archie. They were smiling and sipping out of their drinks.
Slowly more people started to sit down; most of the Cooper family, Fred and Mary Andrews, even Toni, Sweet Pea and Fangs.
Jughead knew they cared for him and they hated that Archie was marrying Betty instead of him, but he also knew they loved Betty and they wanted to support her. Just like he wanted to.
Jughead took slow steps toward a seat of his own, when he suddenly heard the sound of Betty's cries from inside the house which she was supposed to come out of.
Without thinking he slipped inside, into Betty's dressing room, where he found her on the ground with her hands in her face. Her dress covered half her body, but she hadn't put it all on yet.
