"Miss. Louis, please open the door."
He knocked again. "Miss. Louis, I'm officer Reid and I have Mr. Shaw with me. We'd like to ask you a few more questions."

"Miss. Louis, " I added, "we know you're in there so you might as well open the door."

"Your questions we're already answered the night you arrested the one who killed Ramone."

"Did you know the deceased?"

"What?" She was taken aback by my question. "No, I didn't."

"You just referred to him using his first name." Talking through the door was very annoying. "Miss. Louis, we can talk here or we can go to the station, it's up to you."

The locks clicked and she swung the door opened. She gestured angrily for us to come in before walking off.

"Make it quick," she snapped, "I don't have all day."

"Going somewhere?" Officer Reid asked.

"And how is that any of your business?!"

"You seem very agitated," he added.

"Who wouldn't be, with you two showing up here uninvited on a Sunday morning to harass me, no, question me about something that I no longer care about!"

"I have been trying to contact you for some time now. I've left countless messages and you've ignored them all. You left us with no choice."

"What part of 'I don't care' don't you understand? She's no longer my problem."

"So you no longer care about the fact that your best friend will be going to prison for murder?"

"Look," she walked to the little kitchen and started putting dishes away, "for years she acted like a little angel, someone that could do no wrong but I knew better.

"She had a dark childhood Mr. Shaw and that carried over into her adult life." She turned to face us. "Did you know she killed her father?"

"She what?" Mr. Reid basically shouted.

"Miss. Harvey was still a teenager when that happened so the records were sealed. Close your mouth Reid, it's not that surprising. It was self-defense and Amanda, if you knew the whole story, you'd know it was self-defense. Not only that, it was the gunshot wound from an officer that killed him."

"Tomato, tomato. She stabbed him in the neck, how long do you think he would have lasted? Frankly, Mr. Smith, I'm sick of pretending. Whatever happens to her, she'll deserve every bit of it."

I got up and walked to the door with Mr. Reid in tow. "Hope we didn't take up too much of your time."

She rolled her eyes and turned her back to us.

"Have a good day Miss. Louis." I walked out into the bright morning sun and looked up. "It's nice out today," I murmured, "too damn nice to be wasted doing shit like this."

As soon as I got back to the station I got in my car and headed home, which was no better than the station. My home office was packed with as much work as the station, with my current case being a pain in the ass.

That Louis girl was starting to annoy me and even if she did not kill Ramone she was obviously hiding something. Not to mention the fact that she lied about knowing him.

The case itself wasn't difficult but no one was saying much so it was hard to pin the murder on the right person and with the current evidence all pointing to Miss. Harvey...

Why is he calling again? The phone continued to ring, interrupting my thoughts. I wanted to but ignoring the call would be worst than answering. I took the phone off the charger and hit the answer icon. "Michael. No, I don't have any new leads. I'm working on it and if you would just give me some space, I could work in peace. Stop calling every five seconds. Yes, I will let you know as soon as I do."

Damn, he was stubborn and persistent. Whoever did kill Hale was going to wish they'd never laid eyes on him, let alone touch him.
