Genevieve's POV
I double tapped my phone to turn it on and look at the time, almost 7:30. I furrowed my brow, bouncer guy needs to explain why he needs my help, I'm running out of time. I greatly it suspected it involved my cooking and feeding them. Do they want me to cook for them? Or teach them how to cook? Guess I better ask, “So none of you can cook?”
“Well outside of frozen pizzas, not really.” Bouncer dude said. “We have been surviving on fast food, frozen pizza, cereal, and sandwiches. You remember how I ordered a to go order?”
I nodded. Sean popped by with the options for dessert before Miles could continue. The bikers order peanut butter pie, the bouncer ordered a wedge of mixed berry pie, Minnie hopped on a hot fudge brownie sundae, and Julius ordered a cinnamon roll. I don't know why I was happy about that but cinnamon rolls have always been my favorite to make. I sent Sean back with my leftovers to put in the fridge. I'll take them home or leave them for when I come in on Monday.
“That order is for my wife and she is very much pregnant with our first child. Six months in to be exact. I was wondering if you would be willing to teach me to cook so I can feed her well balanced meals. Maybe how to bake a few things also. Is that possible?” Miles asked, that's his name. I had finally remembered it.
I was surprised and found it very sweet that he wanted to learn. I thought about it and figured I really had nothing to lose. I was a little hurt when they said they had known each other since birth. It felt like their friendship was at a level I would not be able to obtain. I can try to get to know them better, even if they were a little tense concerning Sean. Maybe it would help keep my mind off the loneliness and missing my family.
“I think I can do that. My schedule is pretty open and flexible. I bake here Monday and Thursday mornings and am all call for the coffee shop down the block.” I said thinking it over. “It would be best to do it at your guys's place but I can't drive so you'll have to come to my place to learn, unless it is close enough to bike to.”
“I want to learn to cook too,” Julius spoke up, almost to eagerly. “I'm willing to come pick you up and bring you home if you want. It might be a bit far to bike.”
I shrugged, “If you want. If it is around 10 miles away, I have no problem biking. That is about how much I bike into town here give or take a mile.” I didn't understand why they had such looks of amazement on their faces. Was it really that impressive to bike that much? I guess I had been doing it for so long I just got used to it.
Tattoo biker, Harrison, I'm starting to get these names strait, spoke up, “Isn't that a little dangerous?”
“There are always dangers. I'm careful. I refuse to bike at night. If the weather is bad someone brings me to work be it family or someone from the diner and gets me home. Joe and Flo know when I plan on biking, which is most of the time.” I stated. I saw my phone vibrate and light up while I was talking. A message. I unlocked my phone and saw a message on Skype from my brother.
Emmy214: Boys will be home from park in 10 to 15. Wanna be on already when they get home to surprise them?
Nevi823: Sure! I'll call in about 10. I'm at the diner and need to get back to the office. Btw, Sean wants a shirt. ;)
Emmy214: No promises to Sean. Maybe if he lets us meet his partner I can throw a couple of shirts at them.
Nevi823: LOL. I'll let him know. See you in a few!
I looked up from my phone to find them peering and me curiously. I apologized, “Sorry guys, it looks like my phone call might be a little early so I'm going to have to bow out and go make it.”
