Genevieve's POV
I slid the pan of brownies into the oven and started mixing up some cookie dough. My talk with my parents had gone great and I was happy for their travels. They decided to extend their trip by two to three weeks to explore Europe a little more. The planned trip covered Western Europe and they wanted to visit some places in Eastern Europe; Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, and Bucharest were on their list. Sounded like they were finding plenty of key chains for me. Before everyone left I asked for key chains as souvenirs, they are small and easy to pack so I figured it would be better than a shirt or something that could break.
I was expecting Julius and the rest to arrive soon so I was keeping an ear open for them. After finishing the cookie dough, I got a few cookie sheets ready to go into the oven once the brownies were done. I stirred the soup and added another quart of stock along with another bag of frozen green beans.
I went to the living room to clear the floor so I could empty the movie closet; we take movie marathons very serious in this house and as a family we try to marathon once a month. The movie closet contained bean bag chairs, floor pillows, throw pillows, regular pillows, blankets galore, and some air mattresses; sometimes the closet was the sleepover closet. The only way to marathon movies was in the comfort of your bed or in your living room if you have the ability to turn it into a massive bed; room to spread out or cuddle close.
After I finished Hairspray I switched to another musical, Grease, I paused it while talking to my parents and started it again when I was done, I have seen it enough times to know what was going on in the other room. Moving to the beat and singing along with Greased Lightning, I started to unroll a couple of king size air mattresses to blow up for those who want to lounge. I wasn't sure how long they were going to stay but I figured I could leave the mattresses set up for a while due to no one being home, take a nap in a massive blanket nest. Summer bucket list.
The timer dinged letting me know the brownies were done. I pulled the pan out and saw the bar had pulled away from the edges of the pan; they were done. I set the pan on a rack to cool. I was about to put the cookies in when I heard a vehicle pull up. I left the cookies out so I wouldn't forget about them and burn them.
I heard the knock and I made my way to the door. Nerves were kicking in. I wasn't sure I wanted them to be here. I would be just fine by myself. I really want to see Julius, Minnie, and the rest but the fear of not meeting expectations made me nervous and honestly a little scared. But I know I promised my sisters I would try to open up and spend time with them. All this ran through my head in the short time it took me to reach the door. I took a deep breath to try to calm my nerves, plastered a smile on my face, and opened the door.
Crystal blue eyes greeted me warmly and told me that he was happy to be there. I was lost for a few moments just looking in his eyes. I realized I was just standing there with the door open saying nothing; Julius just smiled warmly while Harrison and Seth were smirking, all had arms full of bags. Blushing I lowered my head a bit, "Hello! Welcome! Please come in. Is there anymore bags to bring in? I really don't like shoes in my house."
"Hey Genevieve," Julius greeted me coming in, followed by the brothers. He looked at them and it was as if they were talking to each other without being vocal. "Yeah, a few more bags, they will run and grab them and I'll help bring the stuff to the kitchen. Should only take one more trip."
"Oh good, please just leave the bags here and I'll bring them to the kitchen" I said, gesturing to the floor. I then pointed to a shelf next to the door. "Shoes can go on there so they are out of people's way. Tripping is a really sucky thing, especially when it could have been prevented."
I grabbed two bags and headed back to the kitchen while Julius took his shoes off and the boys went to grab the rest. I set the bags on the counter and slipped the cookies into the oven. I set the timer and started to empty the bags to put cold stuff away until needed.
