May recently got a new boyfriend. His name was Gavin and he was really nice at first. He would include Peter in conversation and take him and May out to dinner once a week. But then, May got longer hours at work and Gavin didn't like having to take care of a fifteen year old kid for most of the day. He started hitting Peter when he got angry and he would throw empty bottles at him. Gavin would tell him to try to stay out of the apartment as much as possible, so he spent a lot of time at the tower with Tony. He noticed something was wrong with Peter but every time he asked, Peter would say he was fine then change the subject. There were many reasons he didn't tell anyone. One, he wanted May to be happy. Two, he felt like he deserved it for being a bad nephew. And three, he didn't want Gavin to hurt anyone else. So, he let Gavin hit him, punch him, starve him, and basically just take everything from him. One day, Tony told Peter that they couldn't have a lab day because he had important stuff to deal with. He didn't say much so Peter didn't ask any questions. He made it home and found Gavin sitting on the couch, watching tv.
"May's working. You're stuck with me for the rest of the night." Peter just nodded his head softly and walked to his room, closing the door, and sitting at his desk. He began to work on homework when he heard the tv volume get louder. He listened closer and his eyes widened as he heard moaning coming from the living room. He tried to block out the sounds, but it was not the easiest thing to do. Especially when the sounds suddenly stopped and there were footsteps approaching his room. Gavin walked in and Peter did not like the look in his eyes.
—time skip—
Peter walked through the streets as tears poured out of his eyes and his large hoodie drowned him. People gave him sympathetic looks as they heard his soft whimpers. He eventually made his way to the tower and he stumbled to the elevator. People shared strange looks as the crying kid walked into the private elevator.
"Hello Peter. Would you like me to take you to Mr.Stark?" Fridays voice was soft and comforting.
"Yes please," Peter responded in a broken voice. The ride was long and quiet and Peters sobs didn't stop. The doors opened and Peter barely walked out before he heard Friday speaking to Tony.
"Boss, Peter has entered the room and his heart rate is elevated and he seems to be in distress." Tony turns around and his eyes soften at the sight of the kid. Peter looks at him before noticing the other people in the room. The Avengers.
"I'm- I'm sorry Mr.St-Stark. I didn't mean to interrupt. I can- I can go somewhere else." He tried to give the man a reassuring smile.
"Are you okay, son?" Steve asked as he watched Tony walk towards Peter.
"What happened Pete?" The teams eyes widened slightly at how soft Tony's voice was. But then they saw the kids smile fall and even more tears came out of his eyes. Tony pulled the kid into a hug, wrapping one arm around Peters waist while the other ran through his hair. Everyone just watched as the kid cried into their friends chest. Tony pulled away after a few minutes and wiped some of the kids curls off his forehead.
"Tell me what happened underoos." Peter let out a few more shaky breathes before meeting Tony's eye.
"Gav-Gavin."
"Gavin? Mays new boyfriend?" Peter nodded softly and looked at the ground. "What did he do Pete?" The team looked at him in confusion and concern while Steve looked at him understandingly and sympathetically. He walked up to the kid slowly and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Peter, did he...?" Steve didn't finish his sentence, but he didn't need to. Peter nodded and Steve pulled him into a hug this time. The team still looked on in confusion until Steve could see realization light up their faces. Tony put a hand on the kids back and Peter quickly let go of Steve and grabbed Tony again. Tony led the kid into the hallway and to his room. He put Peter on his own bed and sat next to him.
"Is this the first time Gavin has done anything to you?" Tony asked, hoping Gavin never touched the kid before. Peter shook his head softly.
"This is the first time he did... but he's hit me before." Tony's anger grew, but he hid it to help calm the kid. He began to run his fingers through Peters hair again and gave the kid a soft smile.
"You need to get some sleep kid. I'll stay here if you want me to."
"You have people over though. You should go see them." Tony's smile grew as he looked at Peter.
"You're more important Pete. Now scoot over. I'm tired too." Peter laughed quietly as more tears fell down his face. Tony laid next to him and Peter rested his head on his chest. Peters breathing slowed until he fell asleep, Tony doing the same only minutes later.
