Chapter 98 - Belle's Rejected Heart

Belle woke up extra early in the morning. She was all dressed up for today.

She took a deep breath and sighed.

"Okay....I'm going to do it. This is my only chance." she said to herself.
She grabbed her wand and went to the Astronomy Tower.

Draco was walking towards the 7th corridor until his wand twinkled.
He stopped and let his wand twinkled twice.

Belle was already at the Astronomy Tower, waiting for him.
It twinkled three times...why he's not coming? she thought.

"You called?" Belle looked up from her wand and saw him.
Belle got up and tucked her hair behind her ear.

"What is it that you want?" Draco asked.
Belle gulped and looked down at the ground.

Come on, Belle say something. she thought.

"I-I...Do..." Belle uttered.
Draco waited for her to speak.

She's too cute right now. Draco thought.

"I know it's too late for me to say this...but....I..l-like you." Belle finally said.
Draco's heat beat very fast. Ever since he confessed to her last year, his heart only belongs to her.

"Belle, I...don't know what to say." Draco said.
"Well, you confessed...." Belle trailed off.

If this keeps going...she'll get hurt by them. Draco thought.

"I'm getting married, Belle." he said.
Belle's eyes widen at that.

"So, it's true." she mumbled.
Draco arched his brows at her.

"Well, you knew about it. I'm getting married to Kara. The girl that I love." Draco lied.
This is the only way to protect her. Draco thought again.

Belle's heart shattered into pieces. She felt hurt.
"I..I s-see. I knew about it and I--I just want to make sure if it is true." Belle uttered. A tear nearly fell on cheek, Draco noticed, but Belle beat him to it.

"Well, congrats on your engagement. I...I hope you two will be happy together." Belle said.
Draco could tell Belle wasn't happy. All he could think is...is to bring Belle into his arms.

Belle walked passed by him, she stopped right beside him.

"She's lucky to have you. And...*sniff* I guess you're lucky as well, Draco. This is probably the last time that we see each other like this." With that, Belle walked away.

As she was walking away....she walked faster and faster. She ran down the hallway as she cried.

Draco stood there with his fist tighten.
"I'm sorry, Belle. I'm so sorry." he cried.

Out of no where, the crystal flower fell out of his pocket.
Draco noticed it, he was about to pick it up, until....

CRACK!!!

It shattered into pieces. His eyes widen in shock.
"No."

Draco picked all the pieces and cried.

I'm so sorry.

Belle went through the portrait, crying.
"Belle, what's wrong? Why you're crying?" Ginny asked.

Belle didn't answer Ginny.

Erika came downstairs and saw Belle.
Belle cried and ran into her.

"What's wrong? You never cried this badly." Erika said.
"What's going on?" Hermione asked.

"I don't know. Belle just came in crying like that." Ginny replied.

"It's true." Belle said.
"What's true?" Hermione asked.
"Draco....he's getting married to...Kara." Belle replied, crying.
"Well, that's good for him, right?" Ginny said.

"Belle." Erika pulled away and looked at her sister.

"Don't tell me....you're in love with him." Erika said.
Belle can't deny it, so she nodded.

"Why? Out of all boys but him?" Erika asked.
"I--I fell in love with him, because...h-he's different. Erika, please try to understand my feelings for him." Belle replied.

"I understand, but he's getting married though." Erika said.

"I know...but I don't want to believe it. I really don't. But it's true." Belle cried.

Erika brought her into a comfort hug and patted her on the back.
"It's okay. Let it out, okay. You'll find another guy out there. More better than him."

Draco's POV
I told Blaise what happen just now and...he wasn't happy.

He suddenly smack me on the head hard.
"Ow! That hurt!" I winced.

"You idiot! Why not just tell her the truth that the marriage is a fake?!" Blaise scolded.

"How could I? She'll get hurt after." I said.
"What happens if you don't do what they tell you?" Blaise asked.
"If I don't do my task, he'll kill me and after that, he'll kill Belle afterwards, just to get her ice powers." I replied.

Blaise crossed his arms and sighed.
"I need to protect her, as much as possible." I added.
"I'd still tell her the truth." Blaise said.
"She won't believe me now. And plus, the connection between us broke." I said.

"How? I thought your wands are the connection." Blaise asked.
"It is. But also this." I showed him the cracked crystal flower Belle gave to me.

"How did it crack?" Blaise asked.
"I don't know. It just fell out of my pocket when she left." I replied.

Blaise sighed.
"I'm going to say this again, Draco. Just tell her the truth. You confessed to her last year and I know you're going to say that you're protecting her. But is this the only way? If you tell her the truth, I'm sure she'll understand."

I sighed out of frustration.

Erika's POV
Belle went straight to sleep, after crying too much. She had dry tears stained on her cheeks.

I sighed and tucked her in.
I walked out of the dorm and thought about something.

Should I talk to Malfoy about this? ...Maybe not. I thought.

"Erika." I looked up and saw Harry.

"How's Belle? Hermione told me what happened." Harry said.
"She's fine now." I said.
"So..." I cut him off in mid sentence.

"Let's not talk about it. I think I heard enough for today." I said, as I sat on the couch.
Harry followed. That's when I laid my head onto Harry's shoulder.

"You don't mind right?" I asked.
He nodded and pulled me closer to him. "I don't mind at all."

I smiled and snuggled into his embrace.
